No shortage of EPL sponsors despite high fees
Published: 30 May 2013 at 00.00 Newspaper section: Business
Cable Thai Holding (CTH), the newly established pay-TV operator, has announced it will gain 5 billion baht from sponsors for its English Premier League (EPL) broadcasts during the 2013-15 seasons.

Main sponsors for the US$15-million package are AP Honda, Toyota, Singha Corporation, Advanced Info Service (AIS) and Thai Airways International.

Three-year sponsorship packages cost $5 million, $10 million and $15 million.

Chief executive Krissanan Ngampatipong said two more brands will be added as main sponsors.

CTH has reserved six channels for EPL broadcasts, all of high-definition quality.

Channel 1 is for live broadcasts and replays for all 380 football matches, Channel 2 for other international sports such as golf, tennis and basketball and Channel 3 for Thai sports.

The fourth and fifth channels are for EPL lifestyle news, while the last is reserved for four-screen monitoring of EPL games.

CTH is building a 500-million-baht studio, which will be equipped with "visualisation in real time" technology that creates 3D presentations.

On hand will be more than 40 commentators from the Siam Sports Channel.

The company will secure foreign partnerships for commentator exchanges such as with Singapore and England.

"EPL sponsorship is quite costly, but we believe it's worth it, as EPL is the most popular sports contest in Thailand," said Jaturon Himathongkom, Singha's sports marketing director.

Singha will celebrate its 80th anniversary this year by organising a special match between Man U and Chelsea in Bangkok on July 13.

Titipong Khiewpaisal, AIS's executive vice-president for marketing, said this is the first time for AIS to be a sponsor of EPL broadcasts in Thailand.

Sponsorship will benefit AIS, the only mobile operator providing EPL viewing through mobile devices, by boosting demand for its mobile third-generation service and thus helping to keep prices affordable, he said. AIS has 30 million subscribers capable of watching EPL matches on their mobiles.

A CTH source said for customers, the basic package of 120 channels ranges from 199-399 baht a month with an additional fee of 500 baht for the 380 EPL games.

The CTH dealer is situated  on the main road between HomePro and Big C on the same side of the road, easily spotted as they have a huge PSI sign outside and loads of dishes on the roof.  Was in there last week they are very helpfull and have the system up and running so you can scan thru the channels and see what you actualy get for your money.
There is no cable where I live so having the Sat system installed in time for the EPL, Baht 4,900 plus first months rental, 2,000 refund should you return the kit.  Sorry can't find the phone number at the minute.

Are you paying the 1,800 box deposit or paying the 200 baht per month rental on it.

The box deposit is included in the B4,800, no further rental charge.
I took the B899 plus vat on a mothly basis as I did'nt want to sign up to a long contract initially.  As we all know ( I have had True for over  6 years) programme content can change dramatically.  I plan o asses it over, say, 6 months and if it remains OK may'be change to the B599 contract.
Hope this helps?

Yes it very slow, two days from order until installed and working good if you use the supplier close to Big C. When calling Bangkok using the number on CTH homepage the say 20 to 30 days.....this might be longer.

After only one day scrolling true the channels I'll say UBC is the better choice for English speaking users but CTH have the EPL.

Came home from the last ship and the wife has installed and paid for CTH for 3 years from her own money (she just came into some money, with help from me).
Proper woman, watched the footie last night, same as True, but build up all in Thai.
I'll keep True at the moment as my kids love the Disney channels and it is paid for up to April next year.

Only one problem with CTH, the information bar, nearly always says NO INFORMATION, so say on Sunday you want to watch a replay of a football match, at a certain time, you got no chance unless you keep checking the TV every hour.    Regards  Illustriousness'    party3                  bananadance
