With the strong Baht and inflation, monthly spending is on the rise what do you think is a good living per money in Thai Baht?
As I always seem to spend more than I plan.
-
100,000 Baht per month should cover everything you need.

Depends on what you want. Four years ago Baht was at 36 to 1 dollar, now it is about 29 to 1 dollar. That is a big loss in buying power if you have fixed assets.
So yes you most of us could live on 100,000 baht a month, but if we planned to obtain Thai assets, we buy less.
To put it in simple terms, I used to get 20,000 baht for about $600 using my ATM, I now get 17,000 baht for about $600. That 3000 baht difference really adds up when you try international transfers, $30K (was 1 million baht, now 850K baht, a loss of 150K baht) is a big loss now.
I am not rich enough to ignore a 150K baht loss, good luck to those that don't worry about it.

100,000 baht per month ?? Co-Co and urleft ... are you serious ??
Have you each got a couple of brand new Fortuners in the garage ?
I've definately got to get out more and spend some money !!
I would be astonished if many expats are not living very comfortably in LOS for WAY less than 100k per month.
Geez ... I could live comfortably in Australia for 100,000 baht per month.
Please tell me you are pulling the proverbial leg ??

36 to 29... I wish !
The Brits will tell you that the exchange rate was over 70 six years ago and this week we were getting 44.
I did my first Thai planning at 66 Baht to the Pound. That meant that 100,000 Baht would be generated from about GBP 1,500.
To get 100,000 Baht you now need GBP 2,272.
We are effectively more than one-third worse off.

Ahhh. Exchange rates. I earn Thai baht and spend Thai baht. party8
As far as I know 1 baht is still 1 baht. party13
Happy Days. bravo1 whistle

As jonestherice might say - sometimes it must be nice to have fcuk all in Sterling ;)
-
I was actually thinking of buying some. Just not sure how low it is going to go and how long I will need to keep it before selling it.
Mind you, if anyone did know then they would be a rich man.
I do know one guy that brought most of his sterling over a few years back and go 68. He is having a little chuckle to himself right now.

I paid 2m for land @ 64 and felt a bit aggrieved at the time...

So, if you sell it now for 3m you might get your money back!!!!!

With Thai property inflation/expectations, the missus would not sell for 4m Baht :)

I try not to worry about anything I cannot change. Lifestyle/work/who to trust/expectations; are a different matter.
I built a house & bought a truck when £ = 72b. Both are gone now but I am still very happy in Thailand. Forget the past and make your future enjoyable, that's what I say and try to do.

Although you now have Baht income, I would still say that happiness is more achievable at 72 than 44.
I now anticipate a few retorts of money does not equal happiness. Whilst there is some truth in that, if you have not got enough money life can be difficult. Having money gives choices - having less money reduces those choices.

^^^^^ Makes sense to me CO-CO....were you a Sage in a previous life ?

I have met a few £ millionaires who were the most miserable buggers on earth! :o Poverty does look so quaint in retrospect :D.
I suppose its the pint half empty syndrome. I feel a Starman post coming along soon! punk

True but that reminds me of the saying... You don't stop having fun when you're older. You get older when you stop having fun!
p.s. I am not a god-botherer! :D :D :D

A sage?????
I'd much rather be an Oregano, or maybe a parsley. Far more aromatic.
There you go kerfuffled. party14

I would hate to see the state of your undies mate !!
An old codger goes to visit his doctor about painful peeing. His wife goes with him because the poor old bloke is hard of hearing.
After an examination the Doctor says to the old man, “Right, I’ll need you to leave a urine, semen and feces samples for analysis.”
The old man didn’t quite hear the Doctor and asks his wife, “What did the Doctor say?”
The wife replies, “He wants you to leave your underpants here, dear.”

Brother we are in the same boat...both gone now. (Along with house full of furniture and garage full of tools from USA.)
I also built and purchased when the baht was 36 to 1USD.
Still learning to move on, but trying to regroup and get it together by retirement time. This time will plan a bit differently. However, I do plan to enjoy!
Best of luck!

As I can only speak for myself, they went to an ex wife who promised to take care of me "forever" (or until she got her US citizenship - whichever came first. Citizenship came first.)
