Thanks Nookie and Co-Co

The fridge is for a mates wife who is opening a shop/house in Mueang Buriram.

He's not a member on BE, so I'm just helping him out. We've looked at new ones. They are expensive !!

Thanx Guys -
Helpful information. Of course Thai girl says this would be much better for her shop (she now uses box with ice). On her wish list is also a machine that sells mobile phone time (true/ one to call/ Dtech). Can sell any amount with an operator - but also expensive. About 40K to buy outright. Who knows ?
Hope to get together in Buri for that beer -
-Chris.

You don't need a machine to sell top ups.........Looks like you are being 'set up'

Indeed you do not need a machine to top up mobile phones. The alternative is to have a mobile phone for each provider. Then set up an account with them. There are a couple of shops in the town that will do it for you. You then have to top up your own phones. You then put a code, the customer's phone number and the amount they want and press send.

The machines are quite handy for people that live along way from a shop that will top up for you.

The percentages are not that good.

The advantage of doing things with mobile phones is that you can charge, say, 105 baht for a 100 baht top up.

Yes - This sounds alot more reasonable. Never could figure how the cost (40K baht) could make THAT MUCH difference. A few advantages, but not worth it. Seems more about a big face. Does make the shop nice you know (especially if farang  pay). Will take your advice.
Thanx/ Chris.

High Maintenance ? - Not really. She runs her shop/ plants one crop rice on 16 Rai/ takes care of one son (send him to good school)/ takes care of Ma and Fa/ and genreally seems happy with her life. I help her when I can - usually with the larger $ problems - and she runs along everyday on her own. So really not bad as far as Thai girl goes. We do what we can - Have to ACCEPT.
PS. She doesn't get everything she wants - but who does ???
