Post by: toffo on November 29, 2012, 09:12:58 PM
Driving on a new road other day that was still wet with the tarmac stuff and it was allover 1 side of my car... Would of taken me hours and didnt seem to come off that easy.. sooooo i take it to Big C ....Put my window down and they must have thought $$$$$$$$.... my  wife said how much to clean the side of the car... The reply was a whopping 2000 baht as they had to use a special liquid.. I just laughed at her and said go feck yourself... Today it got cleaned off another car wash that charged me 300 baht for a full clean in and out... Found out that the special liquid they used to get it off was called WATER.. What a bunch of crooks they are at big c.... This is the 2nd time now that they have done this so beware...

If the car was collected and delivered, how do you know all they used was water to remove the tarmac? Most places use petrol.

The car wash at BigC is a specialist place. Even their regular prices are high. They use all sorts of stuff to stop UV rays and the like.

There is a price list there . I doubt it was a "rip the farang off" episode.

In my previous life I was involved in the heavy transport game.

To remove tar, bitumen, and other difficult stains like dried road kill blood ... (Thai scooter riders ??) ... we simply used
kerosene. It works really good, and is cheaper than most truck wash detergents.

Never did any damage to the paintwork. I would have no hesitation in using kero on my car to remove tar spots.

2000 baht that some specialist car wash then... It was a rip off FACT.... They saw a big fat bald Falang and thought they would try it on..  If I'd have paid that insane sum of money then thre wouldn't have been any Chinese curry sauces for me this weekend lol
