Title: Nekromantik saloon
Post by: Vombatus on November 10, 2011, 12:02:32 PM
Spoke to a young lady today who was promoting this new bar which I believe is near the private hospital on the road from the train station to satuk.

Open on Friday and Weekends they have Alternative/Brit/Pop/R&B/Blues/Jazz/Country and Oldies music (aimed at the Falang)

Saturday is the 'special' day for Blues/Country/oldies and I believe features live performances.

Maybe worth a look.

Interesting name, CC.  Do they raise the dead at the live performances?  (Necromancy is the art of divination using corpses)

IB  - I  am assuming that use of the "k" gives in some 'hip' interpretation ??

Maybe it does, CC.... but in fact 'k' is the letter used in the original Greek, and the 'c' version is just an Anglicisation.

There was a bar in Chiangmai called "Evil" with suitably black and red decor, with flames and so on;  fully open to the street.  I used to stop outside it late at night sometimes (to buy jok at a nearby shop) and never saw a customer in it!  I hope this one does better.

It's just dawned on my over-educated brain that the Thai owner probably thought it was a nice combination of 'necking' and 'romantic'.

I think a shroud would be appropriate dress, Adam.

Seems like a poor choice of names in a society that is supersticious and believes in ghosts. I know its targeting farang with a name like that.

Kodan : maybe your young puncks or headbangers but I don't see many of them in the foreingers society here ... for me a name like that is a bit nono ... they better target the thai youngsters if they want to do business ...
