Just of late {the last several months} I've noticed a growing contingent of healthy and hardy young Thai guys that don't do much. Don't work, don't help the family, not caring to contribute amongst the closer community, etc. Of the modern era, there has always been this group visible - but I believe that this current generation of young lazy punks top the lot. I'm sure, if you reside in a country setting, you've noticed the number of young men of that age range - 20 to 25 - that really aren't productive. And the families seem to mai phen lai this lifestyle off as perhaps growing pains. More often than not, they look for trouble. I'm terribly suspicious of this ilk. Sure....I'm quite aware that things are hard and slim pickings to be found in and around the broader Surin and Buriram regions. Yet, I feel this just a cop-out. We're in trouble, if this is our future. letitallout

..one of the more "profitable" industries {not} in my neighborhood is breeding fighting cocks. Of course, maintained by that same demographic that I speak of. When they're not attending, obsessively, to their birds - they lay around in their hammocks or run up and down the country dirt roads with no purpose. Such great contributors to the community whistle. Their families must be proud...... pray1

For once, Redrover, I agree with you! We had a problem with two of these, and I told them to go and find work in Bangkok. Some hopes; sponging on others is much less painful.

I don't think 20-25 years old can not be called boys, but I see the same thing in the village I live in.
