Beaver anal gland, officially known as  castoreum is also used in small amounts to contribute to the flavor and odor of cigarettes.

Within the zoological realm, castoreum is the yellowish secretion of the castor sac in combination with the beaver's urine, used during scent marking of territory

Anyone for a cigarette and a vanilla ice?

I was on my Canadian Trappers Talk Forum (http://www.trapper.ca/cnta/viewforum.php?f=1&start=200) today and they are getting a good price for castoreum these days  :biggrin:

I may go and hunt some beaver myself  thumbup

BTW any of our Scandinavian members ever drink Bäverhojt.( a type of Snaps)......its in that too  party12

And in some classic perfumes incorporating castor( the sacks Beavers have to store Castoreum ) are Emeraude, Coty, Chanel, Cuir de Russie, Magic Noire, Lancôme Caractère, Hechter Madame, Carven, Givenchy III and  Shalimar.  :ohmy:

It wore thin for me when Songkran was changed from just 1 day to 3. That was courtesy of PM Chatchai Choonhaven.. I now avoid it.
