Hi
Ventured a short distance out of Surin yesterday to the above location.
Coming across the main cross-roads towards Chong Chom, you turn right midway between the row of shops, then right again (back to point on the opposite direction and at the Highway24).
Its the first of 3 ferang bars before a tyre shop and wood yard(on the corner).
Gary has a suprisingly extensive minimart with many ferang goodies. Cannot remember the last time I saw wine gums! confused4
The South African red wine in gallon boxes was delicious (1000b) Pies/pasties are made on-site and look good too
My group had a good cross section of meals (Thai,Indian,Fish n Chips, Chicken Kiev) and ALL meals were very good and priced lower than I have grown accustomed too.
Gary was a good host and I would definetly recommend a visit out to Presart. jumping9
Only got the other bars to check out now coolbar

Hi guys, well went to Gary’s bar in Prasat yesterday, had mince beef pie, peas, chips real ones! Its was perfect, nice owner and a very clean place spotless, the shop was also very good with lots of farang foods, worth a visit
-
I've heard several good reports on this place & will be going within the next 2 weeks & will report back on here

Well eventually got there, had breakfast, which is very good value, bought a dozen pies to try which turned out OK too.The only negative thing I would comment on was the beer prices for somewhere 'out in the sticks'...60 baht for a small Tiger............Here in Sa Kut our local bar sells LARGE Tiger for 60 baht!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sa Kut or Satuk ?
-
Definitely not Satuk! confused2

Not sure if there is any "farang" bar in Satuk......but I bet there is some "Bar" Farang there happy2

Hi
No Farang restaurants/bars, but a few reasonable Thai places that do farang dishes ... mainly Spag Bol!! hungry1 We do not really have enough expats to support a farang establishment but who knows what the future will bring.
The floating restaurant on Mun River has recently had an upgrade and has reasonable grub and usual Thai beers.

Well our local bar now charges 65 baht/lge Tiger after the increases......I was drinking small Tigers in many different bars in Pattaya last week with the prices between 45 & 60 baht.....................How much now for the SMALL Tiger in Prasat????

Just gave Gary a first visit on my way to Kap Chong.
The place is great. Good idea to make a stop point on the way to the Border / Kap Chong immigration office.
Important point:
You'll not see the place on the high way and no direction signs either so as said, coming from Surin, slow down before(!) you arrive Kap Chong Immigration and you'll see block of buildings with some shops and signs of bars and Karaoke, there you need to get into this bars section and it's sitting in between them.
I ate Pie & Chips and what can I say, great value, BIG pie so you have to go hungry to finish it.
Really nice place, didn't knew Prasat have so many Bars in this area.
Wish Gary best luck !
I will definatlly make it a stop point for myself and for our Visa Run service Trip.

There's no doubt Gary's pies are good, but they were expensive before the latest price rise. The Buriram Pieman's pies, although a limited range, are equally good and significantly cheaper!
-
The Buriram pies man cost 50 Baht each.
How much it costs in Gary's place? (take away.not meal price).
-
50 baht its ok price but you can do it easy at home. will cost you about half and better richer filling.
for the lazy ones ok but hey when i'm coming to Thailand i aint searching for farang food. this i have plenty back at home.
not cheap either. :D
