Title: Schools and school fees
Post by: Hairloss on October 27, 2010, 03:57:40 AM
Good morning,

I am attempting to get some information about schools, for a 12yo, and fees in Buriram.

Have been told so far that fees could range from 5,000 baht to 30,000 baht per term. That sounds a little excessive and the reason I am seeking assistance. (did check forum but only found advice in 2008)

Any help advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Firstly I would like to point out that I am writing this as a parent and a teacher.

As far as I am concerned there is no need to pay school fees. The numerous government schools in the province provide free education for all students from 3 to 18 years old.

I won't go into my thoughts about the standard of education but will say that in my opinion if your child is a diligent student then they will reap as much knowledge in Government school as they will in Private school, particularly in senior school(12-18).

There will be small charges for things like learning with a native speaker and maybe computers but that charge is unlikely to be more than 2000baht a term.

It is my belief that with some home schooling,I mean by us the parents and not by extra classes, then a good, diligent student who is encouraged to ask questions will get on well in any school.
