Depend what you consider to be the fastest way?
Bus is going out of Buriram bus station (trip will take 8 hours) but leaving only few times a day (I think only evening time).
Cost: About 450~ Baht.
Taxi service Buriram-Pattaya will take about 6 hours driving.
Cost: 6500 Baht.

Hiya "big Yellow Bus" goes to Pattaya a could of times a day, I know it leaves Satuk around 8:30 in the morning so guess Buriram around 9 am not a bad trip make sure you take some grub with you as it only stops once. I got it from Pattaya to Satuk, left 8.45 am pattaya and arrived Satuk around 6pm evening, stopped around 4pm for food (which If I had known I would have brought something with me :S) lol cost was around the 400 baht price so good value.
and no worries about anything, had a good sleep on way to

Fastest way, Hire a car yourself and drive. I did it from Khon Kean, and took me around 6 hours, but there was a few hairy - scary moments, thai driving is good fun alcoholic bike037

5 hours self-drive from Prakhonchai.

4 and a half tops!
Thought you did it in 4 CC, with a couple of pay-offs en-route for speeding!

There is a Nakhonchai Air leaves Buriram at around 11-00 am & arrives in Pattaya at 19-00,,,only 24 seats on it too, plenty of legroom.......Then there is also Sri Monkol, who have double deckers ,most with massagers in your seat back mI think that goes a little later at 11-30 & also gets into Pattaya around 19-00.The Yellow Mukdahan-Rayong would be my last option, far to slow

There are AC buses, I have used both. And they both make several stops. One went south toward Pattaya the other went to Korat.
I would consider for my next trip to take the VIP bus to Bangkok and get a taxi to Pattaya (less than 2000 baht).

I don't think you will save anytime by going this route, never mind the money. (more expensive). oldmanwithstick

Thanks so much for all the options, will now ponder the choices as I have limited time this trip, and didnt want to wait the whole week for Nok Air erturn flight to Bangkok.

Why waste money on a taxi when the bus from Morchit is just as quick & costs 122 baht???????????
