Thai navy to battle Somali pirates

The cabinet on Monday approved the Defence Ministry's proposal for the navy to send vessels to help fight Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden, deputy government spokesman Supachai Jaisamut said.
He said vessels carrying 371 personnel will leave for Somalia early in September for a 98-day joint operation. He did not say what kind of ships would be sent or how many.
Mr Supachai said about 270 million baht from the 2010 budget will be allocated for job.
"Piracy is a chronic problem in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Somalia. Pirates have hijacked and seized a large number of cargo ships and fishing boats, and this affects the economy of many countries.
"Many Thai boats have been hijacked," he said.

Hi Bums
Well if they pussyfoot around like all the other navies they needn't bother, what I don't understand is why the don't just blast the pirates out of the water, they are after all criminals going about their business outside the law, why should they have any rights.
The worlds gone mad with all the do gooders protecting the wrong side!
Well thats got that off my chest ~~~ now for a beer!
