Refreshed hatch now has the looks to boast but not performance - if that really matters to cat-walkers.
What's new?
There are three notable features of Volvo's updated C30 three-door hatchback.
First, there's the mandatory facelift including a new front end complying with the brand's latest design language already in use in the XC60 and second-generation S60, driven for the first time in Motoring last week.
Second, there's a smaller 145hp 2.0-litre inline-four petrol engine in place of the 170hp 2.4-litre inline-five used in the pre-facelift C30. New is a six-speed dual-clutch automatic in place of the regular five-speed auto.
In fact, this engine and transmission combination is used in the S40 saloon and V50 estate and helps the C30's excise tax burden drop from 35% to 30. The C30 can now be had for B1.999 in base form rising up to B2.239m for more kit
