Widespread rainfall during the past five days has raised water levels at dams in the North, Northeast, Central and East regions, Royal Irrigation Department spokesman Boonsanong Suchartpong said on Wednesday.

Mr Suchart said, for example, that amount of water in the Sirikit dam reservoir in Uttaradit was increasing by about 3.5 million cubic metres per day, and at Pasak Jolasid dam in Lop Buri by one to 2.9 million cubic metres per day.

This indicated the total amount of water at various dams throughout the country was increasing by 30-35 million cubic metres per day, up from 29 million cubic metres per day previously.

However, Bhumibol dam reservoir in Tak province was still low at 31 per cent capacity.
