There is a FREE gym in Buriram's main lake opposite the Night Market Bazzar.
You can make gogging around the river and there are several exercise machines outside.
You'll see a poduim used for some shows and events of the city (police meetings and things like this),there- you'll see a shalter (few stairs underground) and inside there are bicycle, gogging machines and more stuff, nothing fancy but it is FREE. party16
*Note: mostly there is no aircon, just fans.
There are also massage women/men sitting around the river in the open space giving foot massage if you get tired at the end of the exercise. party14

There is also a samiliar gym inside the RAJABAHT UNIVERSITY but people saying it has aircon as well and like the place.
The place looks almost the same as the free one from what I have seen in a visit I gave not long time ago.
The price, I can't remember but very modest, I think it's around not over than 30 Baht/visit.

Try and give us a report, overall, lower your expectation about the level of machines and forget about the fancy gyms you have in Bkk or Pattya, but if you want properly just to exercise they are just fine.

Please report and give us better review after you try.  wave1

Howdy!

Just registered just to ask a question about gyms in Buriram City. My mother-in-law says that there are
some in the city. My Thai is not perfect so it's possible that she did not understand my question fully.

So, are there any decent gyms in Buriram City or are they all just like the free stuff that is available on
many locations along the streets and at some hotels? Those machines are just about worthless, from what
I saw on my last visit. I will of course check out the places that were already mentioned in this thread, but
any further info will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes. There is a very comprehensive gym in Buriram. It is situated in Buriram Pittayacom School. The school is situated on Nivas Road. It is opposite the Ford Showroom. There is also a side gate opposite the Shell petrol station in the town.

The gym is run by the school PE teacher. His name is Chai. I seem to recall that the fees are about 1000baht a month. If you don't intend to go there too often then I think he will work out a daily rate for you.

The school is currently closed for the summer holiday but the gym will be open. Chai's English is limited so may need a translator, although I think you will be able to sort things with a little English/Thai between you.

There will be a security guard on the gate. I'm sure a little mime of pushing your arms up and down will work for directions.

Good luck.

I talked to someone who goes there aswell, he knows the owner very well, he told me it would be around 20000baht a year, for that amount you get a lifetime membership of a good gym in Bankok he told me. The monthly fee now at Pityakom is 1000baht a month, for falang, for Thai it's 600baht. sawadi

Think Internet in Ban Yang charges 15 baht an hour, for every one, including Falang.

I was considering joining this gym in Oct.  However, this is a private business they want to have dual pricing, then they will operate without me.

Wow, I hope that's not correct.  I paid bout that much for a lifetime membership at a first class gym in downtown Honolulu.  The monthly fee was an additional $6, 180 baht.

Hi

Was there looking two days ago. Didn't have much time to talk to them, but as far as I understand there will be a promotion for a time when you pay 450 bath/ training. Than it will be 900 bath/ training. They also have a 1 year membership that will cost 15 000 bath.
Didn't have much time to ask so I can be wrong, and I really hope they will have monthly fees as well.

But the gym looks super. Looking forward to start training at the place.

annual membership is similar to the UK, the monthly is much more expensive. I am surprised as i would have guessed it would be much cheaper.

I thought the fees would be less in Thailand also, however understand this facility with equipment cost over 30 million baht, will take a while to recoup that.

I know of a very extensive and quality gym that is closing down with all equipment for sale, if anyone is interested?

Why are you bothering to post about this when you stated that if there is dual pricing you would not be using the joint?

Because I don't believe everything put on forums.  I use it as a guide, but like to get separate confirmation.

So I went to the gym and did not see blatant evidence of dual pricing, they may have it, but are savvy enough to not to have it posted.

It definitely took a large investment to build this place and it seems to be 1st class for Thailand.

I was there for training yesterday, and yes, it is a high class gym for being in Thailand.
Interesting with the prices. I don't know if they know themselves what the price is. Depending on who you ask. When I was there last week the girl said 15000 baht for a year. But yesterday when she gave me a price list it was different.

The prices I got yesterday was this;

                  Ordinary            Promotion
1 time        900 baht            490 baht
1 month    4500                 3450
3 month    8100                 7650
6 month   13500               11000
1 year     24500                18000

I agree, some of the gyms in Pattaya and Bangkok are very poor but still yet, they are cheaper on their monthly fee.
The average monthly fee goes between 1000-2000 Baht if only 1 month membership. sawadi

I think they already did, the gym mobile phone is also here so just give him a call and find out, the pricing is high and I suspect he will lower the registration fees in the near future....
