Living abroad, but called into thai military
«

My wife`s son has lived all his life in Norway and both him an his mother are Norwegian citizens. However he is also Thai.
Recently got a call from a motherinlaw in distress, Her grandson has to report for military.
Hell No i say
Anyone know how to handle this? If we decline the Thai-citizenshi (which he dont really need) will that do it ?
Thank you for any advice.

You can probably pay to get him out for about 25K Baht. I know of a case where the Thai reported for duty and his mom paid to get him out after about 4 months. That was in 2009 but I expect it can still be done. However I personally think he should have stayed in.

Thai nationality cannot be revoked, unless they were not Thai from birth. In Section 39 it says,
