Anyone recognise this species of snake? It was about 5 feet long with very few stripes on its front half, pic is from halfway until tail. Had to scale down pics as too large a file for this site. I know it's not much to view but posting quickly it's the best I could do. More important if you know it, is it a poisonous one

Looks like a Rat Snake to me , it's Non Venomous and Not Dangerous but they do have a strong bite which may get infected if not kept clean. They only bite if they are trapped as a defensive measure and normally try to just slither away.
It will eat Chicks if you have Chickens but mainly eats eats rodents, lizards, frogs and other small animals

BTW...My family like's to eat them

Cheers Smithy, that was what I hoped it was. Funnily enough it disappeared shortly afterwards and I thought, I wonder if someone took it for lunch 555
