I haven't a clue on price BUT I've seen many places do not have the shutters removed & have the glass sliding doors installed behind them.

Joelacy,

I am renting a shop house and I had sliding doors installed behind the roll down metal "garage" doors.  I don't speak Thai, even with some locals translating, it was a challenge.  It was a challenge because of the following:
1. I wanted to ensure that the glass installed was tempered (safety glass).
2. I wanted to ensure that I had glass of a certain thickness, no less than 5 millimeter (mm).
2. I wanted to ensure that the sliding doors were installed correctly and not backwards as I have seen here in Thailand.  Meaning that the fixed (non-sliding pane) is on the exterior and the non-fixed (sliding) pane is on the interior. This allows for a metal pipe or piece of wood to be laid in the sliding pane track for additional security.  This additional security is not possible if the sliding pane is on the exterior.

I did contact Guardian Glass Thailand (http://www.guardianthailand.com/about_us.asp) and/or Asahi Glass Thailand (https://www.agc-flatglass.co.th/home.php) and asked if they had dealers or glaziers in the area where I live.  Guardian glass had someone who did speak English, but the nearest glazier was 1.5 hours away.  If memory serves me, Asahi didn't have anyone that spoke English at that time.

In the end, I had the landlord/builder of my shophouse do it and she had one of her relatives do the work. It took a number of meetings to get the guy to understand that I wanted the sliding panes on the interior.  He also couldn't install glass any thicker than 6mm. 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm thick tempered glass is available but wouldn't fit the frames he used.  I was unsuccessful in getting the guy to put the screen doors on the exterior as well, so the screen doors are on the interior just like the rest of Thailand and not like anywhere else in the world that I have lived.

The costs that I paid were:
- Aluminum frames 12,000THB
- Tempered glass 18,000THB
- Screen doors 4,000THB
- Labor, approximately 4,000THB

If I ever do this again, I would do the following:
- Check more local shop house stores that have sliding doors and ask them who did the work.
- Check the local area for more quotes from glaziers.
- Get thicker glass.
- Get a more secure locking system than what I got.

Bob at Ruangsangthai can put you in touch with a company that will measure build and install. Windsor I think. Good secure latching system. Sorry I don't have contact info handy.
