Retirement Extension for Dummies Buriram Immigration 2016
« on: November 30, 2016, 09:46:20 AM »
I was going to wait until I personally did a Buriram Immigration (BI) retirement extension before starting a new topic, but I got an AAR from a military bud which seems to be in line with what others have found.

So if you are going for a retirement extension, have the following:

 ·       TM 7, printed on a single sheet front and back.
·       Color Photo 4 x 6 cm
·       Passport
·       Copies of all used pages from your Passport.  Sign each page.
·       Copies of house book, sign each page.  I also had the house book but the agent did not check it.  (even if apartment house book)
·       Copy of House Book owner ID (front/back) signed by them.
·       Proof of income.  I have used a bank statement this time last year I used an US Embassy     Statement. (note, money must be seasoned for 90 days (60 if 1st extension)).
·       Stay Permit form/Penalty form printed 2 sided.  These are fairly simple to complete so you can just wait for BI to give you forms.
·       1900 baht.

Now if you are not leaving Thailand, this is basically it. I am attaching the BI Retirement Extension Instructions and specified forms.

If you plan to leave Thailand, you might want to get a re-entry permit when you get your new extension.  I get the multiple re-entry permit just for the convenience.

You will need to have:

•   TM 8.
•   Color Photo 4 x 6 cm (I already had mine attached to the TM)
•   Passport
•   Copies of all used pages from your Passport.  Sign each page.  Note that KCI will require a copy of the extension you just received, BI should make that copy for you.
•   1000 Baht for single re-entry, 3800 baht for a multiple re-entry.

TM 8 attached, can be filled in using word.

Some Immigration Offices require to see a bankstatement dated on the day you ask for extension of stay.

I seem to remember that I needed two photos. One for the extension of stay and one for the reentry (but I may be wrong).

Look at post #2, the photo is specified.

Some Immigration Offices require to see a bankstatement dated on the day you ask for extension of stay.

Income verification is a whole topic upon is whole topic upon itself.  But some recommendations:

1.  When applying for the extension dress for it.  Wear a collared shirt, long pants, and shoes.  Look like you are supporting yourself instead of a refugee.  When you have your photo taken also wear a collared shirt.

2.  Take your bankbook with you ensure it has been updated (put it in a passbook machine before your go).

3.  If you live off of ATMs take several of the last receipts with you.

4. Take your Thai significant other with you if you have one or bring a good Thai translator.

Note I said these are my recommendations to help support the process, these are not requirements.

Did my retirement extension and re-entry permit today. Only submitted as listed above.
All nice and smooth. Staff there are all very friendly.
They gave me the the penalty form to complete. Didn't give me an income form this time around. Maybe the they've stopped it or forgot. Didn't ask as they gave me the extension without it.

Today I went on my own because Noi was busy. They asked where's your wife. I said at home. They asked why she didn't come. I said why, I want a retirement extension and not marriage extension. do you need to see her ? Replied no and carried on with the process. I had signed copy of her IF and house book with me.

You're Welcome.

And while I have offered to support those wanting Retirement extensions, it is a lot of effort on my part so I am not pushing it.  Basically if you are a newbie going for your 1st extension and want my help, PM me.  Flat fee of 500 baht and we do all the copies and print for you (I have an internet shop with commercial copier).  Will also give you digital copies of forms to complete for your next extension.   I have had many customers from this forum, but no repeats as I showed them how to do it themselves.

However, if you follow posts 1 and 2 using the provided forms you can do it yourself.

Thanks Urleft. I have read your posts about services, and I will likely use them the first time (just so everything goes smoothly). We are moving the end of February 2017.
