Fishy, yes I am in the process now sending one 20' container of household belongings. You are very limited what you can bring. I was told NO machinery, nothing with engine. NO vehicles. They even had me remove my DVD collection which I now must hand carry. I loaded the container with help from a couple friends. All Items must be USED. I sent furniture (couches, chairs, beds) clothing, hand tools, and kitchen stuff. I filled the container wall to wall, floor to ceiling. I sent a safe but took the door off so if they want to look inside they can. I had to leave some things behind, as they did not fit in the container. Selling the stuff here garage sale prices you get just pennies on the dollar. Cost to send to the farm in Lam Plai Mat, including the purchase of a new container to do so (2100 USD) is about 6000USD. Doing the math I was not saving a lot of money doing it this way, but I will hopefully end up having my own things that I am comfortable with. Bottom line, to send a 20' container costs about 3000 to 4000 usd. There is then the broker fees in BKK. The Thai shippers here will not send your own container, must rent one of theirs. They say the customs people in BKK are very strict right now, and the "fees" may be more than expected. If they decide to open and unload your container at port it will cost another 2000usd. 10 years ago I sent one and it cost 10000 baht to not have it opened, yet when I got it the seal was broken. Everything was there, but obviously they looked. When I did look at sending my motorcycle, was told that the 'tax' at that end would be at least 250% of the retail value new. I imagine it will be similar for a tractor. Hope this helps.
