Windows 10

I am running an original version of Windows 7.

I keep getting a prompt for the free upgrade to Windows 10.

Is anyone using 10? Are there any problems? I have heard that there may be some problems with some Wifi routers.

Your experiences would be welcome.

I downloaded it a month or so ago - it took an absolute age.

It seemed ok apart from constant requests for more and more information which I found intrusive and bloody annoying.

Luckily you have the option to revert back to your original system which I took - another long wait - so I'm back on 7 until I'm forced to change.

You can wait, but the upgrade is only free until end of July.

I have 3 PCs 2 of them have been upgraded to Win 10 and no problems, and most certainly no problems with Routers, Wifi devices etc

Even if you upgrade,you have 30 days to revert back to the old OS.

I give Starman at least a +1 for this thread.  It got me thinking. 

Windows 10 was released about a year ago, there were lots of issues.  However MS has been working to correct the issues.  I just (within the past hour) downloaded Windows 10 on a computer I bought less than 2 weeks ago.  My initial impressions are favorable.  So far so good. 

What is important to me is that I have 20 certified windows 7 licenses for my computers, if I download windows 10 before 29 July, the upgrade is free.  Those licenses cost well over 30K baht.  Therefore my Windows 7 licenses will convert to Windows 10.  That is a hugh cost benefit factor.

Get it free while you can.

No issues with widows 10, seems to work well for me. I just hate getting used to something new when I am used to using something old.

I upgraded my main PC from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro but I reverted back to Win 7 after 1 day. I didn't have any device issues. Too much spyware / bloatware for me. I didn't like the new look & feel and IMHO nothing has noticeably improved for me. In fact I think it is more cumbersome if you don't have a touch screen. Thats just my opinion though.

I updated my tablet to Windows 10 because it came with Windows 8.1 installed which I didn't like either. I thinl Win 10 (like Win 8.1) is more for touch screen devices.

^No Problem, but before you apply any of the changes, create a system restore point. (Some of the programs listed will do it for you, but better be safe then sorry )

How long did it take,please?

I have a commitment to be online at 6pm every evening.

If I start at 8am does that give me time to got to 10 and, if required, back to 7?

It took me about 30 minutes to download, but that was using US ADSL.  My firefox files were transferred, but I had an issue with some on-line.  Nothing was transferred to the new explorer. 

So far I have no regrets with switching to 10.

One of my PC's about 40-45 minutes, but on the other one almost 2.5 Hours.

Depends on a couple of things, like how much RAM your PC has also HDD speed (SSD is fast), processor speed (Pentium or i7) etc etc
