Trackday at BRIC
« on: January 05, 2016, 09:31:05 PM »
Hi,
Plan to stay in the Buriram / Lamplaimat area most of March month, and would love to do a motorcycle trackday at the new racetrack while I'm there.  But the information about these events seemes to be somewhat lacking.  Does anyone have information regarding trackdays at BRIC? Even information about where to find information would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sven

Sven, I asked the same thing at the ticket counter when I was there and the response is that you get the schedule of events by following them on Facebook.  I said what if i dont have facebook.  They looked at me like something was wrong.  The larger events have posters around town advertising the event.  No advance tickets sold, only at the gate.  At least 3 months ago it was this way.

Okay, thanks for the info.  I try to avoid facebook also, but it gets harder and harder to stay away.
That info worries me a little bit, because according to their facebook page, there haven't been a trackday since march 2015. I was hoping that was not the case.  Wasn't it supposed to be held trackdays for motorbikes once a month?

Google tells me that SBR Trackdays is going there in the end of january http://sbrtrackdays.com/main/index.php/2016-trackdays/

So, David, what kind of bike are you planning to use for a trackday? roadbike, racebike?

I will probably stay in thailand for a month every year in the future, and for that it would be great to have a sorted durable racebike available. maybe a pretty stock 5 years old yamaha r6 or something?  But if that is hard do come by in Thailand, I might bring my cbr600 from Norway.

Cheers

No idea about trackdays but the WSBK comes to BRIC 11,12,13 March.
Good event last year apart from the Water and Beer running out on the Sunday 555
Sure they will have that sorted this time around.

It looks like Sven is asking about the track open days, where individuals can go to the track and ride their own bikes around the circuit. I believe it is a monthly event but not sure of each date. I would imagine that the dates would be decided within or just before each month in order to accommodate other events.

I'm not a racer, just a spectator. As far as specific schedules and such I really dont know, but wish they would advertise a bit better so that we could go watch!

Hi, sorry for beeing a bit vague.  We call it a trackday when you can bring your own motorbike / car to the racetrack and just ride it for fun. Some people use their road bike and some use their racebikes. From what I read in Buriram Times, a while back, such sessions where to be held at bric http://buriramtimes.com/sports-news/29-chang-international-circuit/326-track-day-at-last.html

The BRIC is a bit slow at updating their web site TiT.
Trackdays are a hoot and a lot better than riding on public roads, no oncoming traffic etc, Have done many in Australia on my Ducati.
Keep us informed if you can find out more information Sven.
Cheers

Will do!

I have also startet to look into what kind of track prepared bikes are availeble second hand in Thailand.  Seemes like the Kawasaki ER6 is quite popular. So it might be possible to find a sorted example for around 150000 baht I think.  Even though a twin like the ER6  will be punished at a fast track like Buriram, compared to the inline fours, it might be a fun ride.

Yes  the ER6 is not real fast but you have a good track and you can ring it's neck, that is the point of trackdays. No police either.

There is not too much information available, and as I'm located in Norway, it's not so easy to enquire either. Here is what I have found so far.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yamaha - Pirelli have arranged for 2 trackdays.  One in december 2014 and one in march 2015.
BRIC have arranged for 2 trackdays.  One in january and one in february 2015
SBR Trackdays have invited to a trackday end of january 2016
Any more?

I have sendt an email to http://www.highsidetours.com/  They arrange for trackdays in Pattaya.  Maybe they will arrange for something in Buriram?  Waiting for a reply.

For me it is the corners that give me the greatest buzz when riding a motorcycle, not straightline speed.  In that I feel that a small 600 is much more rewarding to ride than a big hp 1000.  I have never ridden a ER6, but I can imagine it is real fun to ride.  The only disadvantage is that is really frustrating to be stuck behind a 1000cc bike and not beeing able to pass it, even though I'm faster.  But from What I have seen, BRIC is so wide that it should be possible to overtake in the corners as well?

Hi, just a quick update.  Well, more of a conclusion as there is not much more info to find.

- BRIC might arrange trackdays in Buriram if there is an opening in the calendar.  Invites are only made with a few weeks notice
- Smaller trackday organizers find Buriram too expensive, and will not run trackdays there for the time being
- Pirelli -Yamaha will organize 1 or 2 trackdays in Buriram in 2016
- SBR Trackdays might organize 1 or 2 trackdays in Buriram in 2016
