I assume you are talking about a fairly modern Thai TV that has HDMI, USB, and component connections.  I would also assume the UK DVD player has at least one of the same connections so there should be no issue.  Your current cables should work.

So Yes.  However, I am a Yank and never used/seen a UK DVD player.

Yes, but be prepared for region code issues.  The US DVD player I brought can play DVDs from the US but not Thai DVDs.  A locally purchased Samsung DVD player can play DVDs purchased in Thailand, but not the DVDs from the US.  There are region free DVD players that can play everything.  Soken is one brand.

Yes, agreed.  I bought a Panasonic at Big C and it seems to play most formats (including Blu Ray), however, the best we have is a Sherman, about 1000 baht at Big C.

Do you use a simple plug in power converter to run the DVDs player?  I have a player I want to bring but I worry about power supply.

From the UK you'd just need a plug adapter.  From N.America you'd have to check if it's 220VAC compatible.  If not you'd need a transformer.

I brought all my DVDs over. Purchased in Buriram Pioneer cinema, home entertainment system with DVD and Blueray which is connected to a Samsung TV. All DVDs play fine here.
