331 Road
« on: May 24, 2015, 04:36:16 PM »
Just drove back from Krasang to Pattaya, so just a heads up, that the 331 is getting better and better, there are still some stretches with a very bad road surface but it seems they are working on it.

Traffic was light (but still had some hair raising experiences (some people really drive like ^%##>€%)  if anyone wants the video just PM me. ) and it took just under 6 hours, but counted around 5 police checks with the one near Nong Ki the only one with a Radar Gun.

Forgot to add: Guys please get Good Dash Cams in your Car for added safety.

I have already 2 HD dash cams complete with GPS with time, Speed and coordinates recording. 1 for front wind shield and another one at the back wind shield, but I will  buy a 3rd one that covers both the left and right side of the car, so in case of an accident there is No Doubt (hopefully) who is in the wrong.

One more thing, guys please be careful out there on the Thai Roads wherever you are.

Dunno. I go to Chonburi / Bangkok / Chiang Mai a few times a year and I would welcome a few hair raising experiences to relieve the monotony. Maybe you expect people to drive reasonably? I don't. I swear a lot but I always did, usually because my suspicions about what was going to occur, occur.
I rarely look at stuff on my dash cam and generally forget to turn it on anyway. 20 000Km a year.
And yes, the 331 is now much better than it was a few months ago.

5555 yeah I am the same, if you get a copy of the Video you will only get one with the Audio removed (not good for sensitive ears)

My Dash cams start automatically as soon as I start the car and have loop recording so if the SDHC card is full the recorder automatically removes the oldest video (which isn't protected). Very good system and crystal clear Image even at night.

Did anyone do the 304 / 7 lately ? Are the major roadworks there finished ? I am thinking of going back that way after I have done my 90 day report (thanks KCI).

From here near Nong Ki it takes me just about 4 hours using 24/304/331........an extra hour when going via route 2,plus an extra 120  baht for the tolls!

Nookie, do you use the 8km of road after Lam Chabang to link to the 7. or do you still go round the lake.

I rarely go around the lake unless I'm picking up/dropping off.......I turn off the 331 at the lights for Banglamung & do a Uturn straight after the flyover over the 36

I usually do the same thing, but I saw some "cops" ??? taking pictures there yesterday so I didn't do the u-turn but drove on a bit and turned there and then made my way to the 7.

Maybe just a false alarm.

Someone said they were making that U turn more difficult ?

You may want to give the 8km stretch a try - particularly if they have finished the roadworks on the 7.

Wow, some maps would be nice from you experts.  A lot of times you guys talk in tongues as I just understand maps.

As an inexperienced Patts driver, what lake?  I haven't driven to Patts in 3 years so a lot of your advice makes no sense.  I would bet there are more like me that would like to take advantage of your expertise if we could understand what you are talking about.

The route which seems best to me is where continue down 331, turn right at 3240, do a hard turn onto 36, then to 7 and into Patts.    However, I freely admit I do not know for sure and would like to take advantage of the guy's experience that goes there bi-weekly.

Exactly that is the one Nookie was talking about.

Don't bother driving around the lake (Mabprachan) the route you just posted is the fastest to get into the Heart of Pattaya.
