Hi there does anyone know where is a good place to buy Turf ?. I live in the Prakhon Chai area. getting sick of walking on dirt everywhere lol

I would first try the lady with the garden shop in Maharaj Road. From "My Corner" it is down the road, past the bus station and another 100m on your left. It is almost opposite Panda Internet.

Check her prices.

I bought 800 sqm (and then a further 900 sqm) from Nakhon Nayok at less than half the price but paid 4,000 Baht for delivery.

For 200 sqm it may well be more economic buying locally. The price is seasonal and it seems to be higher this season. I think the last batch I bought in September was around 20 Baht per sqm  (I will check with her with a better memory!)

Asked the Missus and she thinks we paid 15 Baht sqm.

I am sure I have paid 20/21 Baht in the past as well.  Nua Noi is the most common grass and Malay grass (the thicker broad leafed grass) was always a bit more expensive. They seem to be around the same price.

I had no desire to create Wembley stadium or Wimbledon quality. I just wanted something that was greenish most of the time - that seems to be the case.

First time we just ploughed and raked over an 800 sqm area. We mixed a base of bought in lighter/sandier soil with coconut husk, cow shit, a bit of sand and burnt rice husks. I aimed for a 5cm layer but in all honesty I avoided getting involved belong giving the initial instructed. The missus was actively involved and oversaw the labour (5 women from the local village).

I was expecting a delivery truck but a heavily-laden old Toyota pick up turned up at 07.00 one morning. The driver stood and watched while the girls unloaded - so be prepared for that.

For my second effort at laying 900 sqm we just added rice husks and coconut fibre to the existing soil.

That price sounds familiar and I have a vague recollection of being quoted 60 Baht one time.


That price makes your grass 10,000 Baht locally (there may be a cheaper supplier).

If Malay is still, say, 21 Baht then you have a base cost of 4,200 Bt + another 4k for delivery = 8.200 Bt.

Better still if you have a pick up is to drive to Nakhon Nayok and collect. The 650km round trip will cost around 2,000 Baht. The added benefit is that you will get to see the many garden centres and roadside shops on the 305 road between klong 15 and klong 6.  I buy plants there for 1.3 Baht that would cost 5 Baht or more up here. 5 Baht for plants costing 10 Baht+ locally.


Later...... the missus has just called the supplier we use and the price for Malay and Nua Noi is 15 Baht - even better -    200sqm = 3,000 Bt + petrol 2,000 Bt = 5,000 Bt or half what you would pay in PKC!

I am told that the Malay is better in shaded areas and the Nua Noi is more hardy. When the Malay is green it is a lovely dark green - even in the areas where we get regular sun, it is also easier/better to cut. I put down 900 sqm on Malay in open ground. At the moment it is green with some brownish tinges - time will tell whether than is natural or the effect of constant sunshine.

I have PM'd the phone number to Harley - will do the same for you when you are ready.

I don't know how well you know 'Nakhon Nayok' but we are really talking about the 305 road from Rangsit to NN and has roadside garden shops from klong5 or 6 to klong 15 (I think). Passes through the provinces of Pathum Thani and Nakhon Nayok.

No idea about the coordinates because these people operate from a wooden hut no bigger than the roadside shops that sell watermelon or stick rice or whatever.  You are about 2 hours from Pattaya. Last time I went I took the route I know down the 7 and 9 onto the 305 near Lam Luk Ka. It is OK but I hate the stretch of the 305 before you get to klong 6. Too many U turns and right turns that bugger everything up.

I almost went this week on the way back from Pattaya and Google directions gave me a fairly straight line route through Chachoengsao.

Use Saint Theresa International College at Bungsan, Ongkharak as your reference. I think this is close to klong 6 where are turf supplier is based.

Maybe a bit off topic however, Why not synthetic turf? Its green all year long, no need water and no maintenance.
