Many thanks to all for the constructive information that you provided for me, it is going to help a lot.
Many thanks too to nookie for the offer, but what makes you think that I am over 50 ?  ::). The wife and I will have to come and visit your shop (?) one day and take away some good old farang products.
Many thanks once again to all for the valuable information
Mike
Best day to come to Nookie's is Sunday afternoon...you can have a few beers, put the world right & enjoy some friendly banter with the regulars, of which I am one....be sure to wear a thick skin.....

Thanks mxyzptlk, I do hope to venture down nookies place some time in the near future, and of course I will wear my thickest skin if I can find it.
Many thanks to all once again but still can't make up my mind which is the best route, and I am going next Monday !!

Mike nookie has brought up a point. You say your on a tourist visa. If you are Kap Choeng Immigration may still be converting over to an Single entry O-visa to start your extensen for retirement. Call them tomorrow to find out. Pattaya, Hua Hun, Phuket and Chiang Mai have been striped of that authority but  have heard nothing about Region 4 which KCI is part of. If so this could save you a trip if you wanted to go retirement.

GL you are incorrect regarding Pattaya............What they cannot do anymore is to change the VOA to a retirement extension...........No problem converting a Tourist Visa to a retirement extension.

Thanks once again especially "gotlost".
I think a run for the wife and myself to Savvanahket next Monday is on the cards still.
Afew more beers between now and then might clear my head as in what direction to take.
I think 90 day in Laos and then apply later in KCI for non O based on marriage, if it is possible.
Hope to meet you all one day down in nookies place or around the Buriram area
Thanks, Mike party4

Sounds like a plane.

For general info. I just confirmed with Kap Choeng Immigration that they still do a conversion from a 30 day visa exempt or a 60 day tourist visa over to a single entry 90 day O visa which is the first part for regiment. A conversion for marriage has to be sent to Bangkok.

Mike if you have a single entry O visa (90 days) after 45 days you can apply for your marriage extension at Kap Choeng Immigration.
