An elderly man shot dead two young men on Sunday night in Muang district of Satun province, and explained later that he acted in anger because they were harassing a woman at his home, reports said.
Police said the shooting took place at a rented rowhouse behind Satun Technical College on Buri Wanich road in Muang district.
Following the incident, Somsak Tharanoppakhun, 77, called the police and then went to the Muang district police station where he surrendered and handed over a .38 handgun.
Mr Somsak, who owns the rowhouse for rent, told the police that the two young men - one 19 and the other 20 years old - came to the house, which was rented by Aree Yongpraderm, 48, and kicked the door and made loud noises to harass the woman.
The man said it was not the first time the two young men had done this, and he had repeatedly warned them not to do it.
When they did it again on Sunday night he became angry, took his gun and walked up to the two men and shot them dead, Mr Somsak said. He said he wanted quiet so he could rest because he was still recovering from semi-paralysis and suffered from several other illnesses.
The police charged him with intentional murder.
