First car

Sat having a chat with a few friends last night and the subject of cars came up , in particular what was the first car we actually owned , well that brought back fond memories of my lovely Ford Anglia 105E , its in that car I had my first fumble on the back seat 



 

So what was your first ever car ?

Mine was a Morris Mini Van. Closely followed by a 105E Anglia identical to yours.

The Anglia 105E was also my first car.

Primrose yellow, registration no VCT 603, sports steering wheel the size of a saucer and John Player Special black roundels on each door !!

I thought I was possibly going to be the only '' old '' bugger here  , must admit to owning a red mini van too , my real love back then was this

Could only dream of a cool car like that in those days.
But did have one of these. Managed to screw almost 80 MPH!!! out of it one day, going downhill with a tail wind.

Mine was a 1978 Trans Am, like from the movie smoky and the bandit.  The 400 cubic inch engine could really move out. 

Had to wait until I finished being a broke college student and got a job before I bought a car.  It taught me several things:


1.  Do not buy a black car.  Looks really good, until 10 minutes after washing and the dust starts settling on it. 
2.  People can be real assholes.  Two days after I bought the car I parked at a K Mart well away from everyone.  I came back and it looked like something had drive by opening their door denting it 4 times on one side, 5 on the other.

Don't you miss the days of real chrome and stand out character, now many cars look like they come from the same jelly mould 

 I love that Riley , look at the real chrome headlights

After a while I progressed to a Rover 3 Litre auto. Paid £300.00 for it from the local Rover dealership.
It had belonged to the boss, and was immaculate. I will never forget the look on that jumped up ponce
of a salesman's face, when the little scrote ( me ) handed over the cash and drove it away.

Now that car was a pussy magnet. With an auto box with column change, once the front seat was pushed back
you had more than enough space to entertain your "guest"
Had to sell her when petrol went up to 50p a gallon. ( The car I mean )

The car looks fantastic , and have to totally agree on points  1 and 2 , I only ever had one black car back in the uk , in the car show room it had a mirror finish , one week later I was crying in my beer.

The showroom sales man did try and sell me the extra option to have the car spray coated with some sort of protective lacquer that would in his words , keep the car looking like new and you only had to spray the car with a water hose and the original shine would come back , no polishing needed. I did not take his offer , so can't comment if the lacquer would have made any difference


 .


I don't currently drive due to my accident back in the uk , but we do have a car that my wife drives , I'm all ways telling her to park as far away from other cars as possible , to keep the dent count to zero 


Don't get me started on classic cars from the USA , some of the 1950's models are just a dream .

If I remember right they seemed to be built like a tank and well equipped inside , I only ever saw bosses and posh people driving them

I was far from posh, and that's what got up their Hunting, Fishing, and Shooting noses.
He would have much preferred to sell that car to ANYONE but me, but I suppose a sale was a sale.

My first was a 1937 Austin Ruby then a 1948 Ford 8 with the spare wheel mounted on the back with a cover
