I had a 7hr economy class ride in Thai Airways newly delivered Dreamliner yesterday. This aircraft was the 2nd delivery, just a couple of weeks old. The economy seating was 3-3-3
I'm a 192cm tall guy, so getting comfortable in almost any aircraft is tricky, but I had 2" of knee space before I touched the seat in front. When the seat reclines, the base also slides forward, so I was almost able to completely straighten my legs under the seat in front. This of course is a complete fantasy for any economy class traveller, but it's real in the Dreamliner.
Yes ... it's certainly quieter than A330's that normally fly my route.
Yes ... the dunnys are roomy and efficient.
Yes ... the seat back entertainment system is big and comprehensive and easy to use.
Yes ... the windows are 50% bigger than all other jets, and have no window shades. There is a 7 notch button below each window to lighten, or darken the window tint. Pretty funky, and fun to play with for a while.
Yes ... I arrived in BKK fairly refreshed, notwithstanding the bogan foul mouthed tatooed covered yobbo drunk sitting almost along side me. The worst example of a loud mouth Aussie tourist you could imagine. Was embarrassing. Can't choose your neighbours I suppose.
Yes ... it's definately a myth that Thai flight attendants are attractive. I've travelled with Thai many many times, and have yet to see the "postcard" quintessential Thai girl. Maybe they put the dogs on the deadend backwater route that I frequent. Also ... I'm sure many of them have missed the training "how to smile" classes.
Anyway ... the Dreamliner was nice to travel in. Mainly based on the extra legroom available, but I wouldn't be changing my booking just for a ride in a 787
