Car repair
« on: May 14, 2014, 07:24:03 AM »
My Camry, right side drive, has a broken main power window switch and also a couple of the power window motors are shot.

The Toyota dealer in Buriram says that since my Camry was made in Australia these parts are different from those made in Thailand, and they have to order from Japan as opposed to Bangkok.  I am not a mechanic but I find this hard to believe.

My questions are, #1 Do different regions produce Camrys with different parts as basic as a window switch and motor and #2 can someone put me on to an independent Toyota mechanic in Buriram.

G'day Som Luck.  In Oct'12 Toyota had a worldwide recall of Camry, Kluger, RAV4, Yaris, Aurion, Corolla vehicles.

The recall was for all cars built between 2006-2010  7.4 million vehicles were involved.

The recall was specifically to replace faulty power window master switch on driver's door.

If your car was purchased new by you, and it is a 2010 model or older, local Toyota dealer in Thailand will be obliged to replace it free of any charge.

Maybe the individual door motors are ok, and it's just a sticky master switch ?

Google Toyota Australia recall notifications for more info.

Further to my previous post ... as the recall involved many different Toyota models, I'm guessing that the same power window master switch was used for all these different models ... meaning that a Yaris or Corolla switch will most likely fit ok on your Camry.

Toyota Buriram should be familiar with this recall, I would think, as it was only 18 months ago, and must have affected bucket loads of local Toyotas. I'm surprised they don't have a couple of spare switches sitting in a box ?

Maybe worth asking local Toyota dealer again about the switch being a "common" part for Camry, Yaris, Corolla, Kluger etc
