Russia Invades Ukraine, impact on Europe?
« on: March 08, 2014, 10:23:39 AM »
I am sure most have heard about Putin invading the Ukraine.  But last night I was talking to a Swede, he was concerned about Putin's next ambitions (e.g., Sweden).

Make me wonder what Bush would have done?  However, you Europeans got what you asked for in Obama.

Totally agree Urleft... There again what can we do?.. Obama has crippled us both economically and militarily.. The empire is dead.. We don't have the capability of dealing with Putin.. Good luck Europe.. What's the old saying "You reap what you sow"..  Till we get healthy at home not much we can do internationally and good ole BO is making sure that hole at home gets deeper and deeper by the day... Welcome to Venezuela north.. Welcome to the newest banana republic.. To all of those who have, gleefully, wished for and awaited the demise of the the US, you've gotten your wish.. Now you're on your own.. Good luck dealing with Putin... Obama's really got your back doesn't he??

I would guess that the other EU member countries that border the Ukraine appreciate your concern and support.

Kind of brings home that quote from a well known European:

I doubt Putin cares about being loved.

Are you on Standby Keith?

To answer the question you asked, No.  I assume you are talking about standby for the military.

But, I am still subject to recall for the next 16 months.  However, I think they would prefer to call up women and children before they got to me.

I don't know if it's going to get that far Keith... The people back home are not going to stand for another war... If you want a revolution to get started just get us involved in a third war... I don't know how old you are but depending upon your age it would, probably, be a voluntary thing.. It was for me on Iraq because I was already over 50.. and I was subject to recall up to the age of 55..  We're a country that's dead broke.. We don't have the resources or the manpower to get into another war..

I don't expect to be recalled for about anything short of nuclear war.   I am subject to recall until I reach age 60.

But I can't say I agree with your assessment, we veterans are too few, and there too many sheep voters.  There would be no winners, however, imagine what Obama could do if was given the power of FDR from WW II?  However much of the US economy could he nationalize?

That being said, I expect Obama to roll over.  Try to name one foreign policy victory for him?  He makes Jimmy Carter look presidential.

Love the cartoon.. If you think the current generation is going to blindly follow Obama into a war, I think your assessment is wrong.. I have have 3 kids, all in uniform and all of them have in excess of 16 years of service and 2 out of the 3 would walk before they follow this incompetent fool into a war.. His current policies and rules of engagement in Afghanistan are doing nothing but getting our people killed and for no reason.. But I don't think there's much chance of that.. That cartoon says it all.. We're done both economically and militarily as long as Obama is in the White House.. 60 huh?  When did they raise the age limit?  It was 55 for me as a retiree.. and I went out in 1990...

What is amazing here is the almost total lack of responses from Europeans.  Why is that?  Does Russia invading the Ukraine not affect you?  Other than treaties (and Obama saying they have will take care of the Ukraine), it really has little to no impact on the USA.

There are many threads on this forum about the USA, and there has been a lot of back and forth (I have personally taken a lot of flack).   This is your backyard.  The Ukraine thing is on the EU border, does that bother you?

So Europeans, take a stance.  Because if you are depending on Obama (the USA) to pull your ass out of a crack it is not looking good.
