Thanks GL, that is what I thought.  There are 2 buses A1 and A2 they go from DMK to the Mo Chit Skytrain exchange for 30 baht.  If you got time, I would recommend using these buses.   But if the road to Bangkok on 20 April is slow, I will get off at DMK and take the free shuttle to BKK.

Get off at Rangsit and jump in a Taxi to Swampy cheap as chips.

Their new "terminal" is being built where I said. That will be full monty with garage too. It will run along with the smaller one in the town. They also have plans to build a mew place to park their buses near to Imobile stadiun.

My flight doesn't leave until 10 pm, so if traffic isn't too bad I'll have time to waste.   So to paraphrase Ben Franklin "A Baht saved is a Baht earned."  Besides, I will be able to do several things I haven't done yet such as getting off the bus at DMK and enter DMK from the outside, I have only flown into DMK, never out.

If traffic sucks and the bus is really delayed, I will do the Rangsit to BKK taxi.

However, what I really wanted to do was to fly from Buriram to DMK, unfortunately Nok Air isn't flying on that day.

So Urleft is spouting Bollox yet again!

Nookiefly is at it again.   I only said I heard it, not what was fact, I started this thread to get updates as I will be taking NCA to Bangkok in about a month, want to make sure I get to the right place.

BTW, anyone know if the NCA bus to Bangkok will drop off at DMK (Don Mueang) Airport?

Yes. Just t tell the steward.
GL its not as simple as that.............Confirm BEFORE you get on that it will drop you at DM OTHERWISE its off at Rangsit as Don Muang IS NOT an NCA drop off point.

I can't understand anyone who would protect their family's lives with firearms, would actually play Russian roulette with bus transport in Thailand.

I reckon the NCA coach to BKK is very professional, and much safer than being in a car. Having said that, I recently caught the pre dawn rattler from Buriram to Khon Kaen (via Maha Sarakham). Was an amazing 5hr cultural experience in a bus that had clearly seen better days.

I've attached a photo of a coach that looks perfectly legit & safe !!  555  If you look closely you can actually see some glass that the manufacturer originally installed to enable to driver to see where he's going. Called a windscreen in some countries. In LOS it's a beaut place to put stickers !!

This photo intrigues me as it's so bizarre. Don't know how the alternator keeps up with the battery discharge.

Here is a list of places where the NCA bus will stop. It is possible to get off the bus here but it is not possible for new passengers to get on. I will happily translate for you:

Nang Rong, Nong Ki, Chockchai, Pakchongchai, Lamdaklong, Pakchong, Moo-ak Lek, Gengkoy, SaraBuri (Adisorn Camp), Hin Gong, Nong Kae, Wang Noy, Nuankorn, FuturePark Rangsit, NCA Bus Depot, Morchit.

As previously mentioned there is no drop off at Don Muang.

The NCA bus passes in front of DM. Ask the steward and they will stop and let you off. They do this all the time.

It is what I planned to do, the last time I took that bus (several years ago) I remember them stopping there.   I will give an update after I get to Bangkok next month.

Can't agree with you Smooth - I would rather be in control of my own vehicle than trust the Thai bus network. Even if things have improved and drivers are tested - there are still too many examples where 'driver error' has been the cause of carnage.

Of course, there are dangers everywhere when driving but at least I am responsible for my own actions. Avoiding the roads at New Year, Songkran, Bank Holidays and weekends is also part of my traffic management strategy.

Take  closer look at some of those buses. Like many things in Thailand they flatter to deceive - often beautiful coachwork covering an aging, knackered old engine and body.  Nookie is like that but without the beautiful coachwork

For me, Nakhonchai air is the only way to go, I have watched their drivers from the front seat, and it's 80km/h all the way, they stop for a check in about halfway to BKK presumably to check that they haven't been speeding. They drive as a sensible person would.
I went once on a cheapo bus to BKK, never again. Minibus? The Muslim driver, obviously high on Yaba, said I was drunk when I decided to drink my Chang beer before it got warm. He nearly killed us, as he probably does all his passengers every time he goes off for a 4 day stint without sleeping.
For safety and cheapness you can take the train, last time it was three hours late but never mind.
