My understanding was that you can own 50% of the house but as far as the land goes nothing , but I could be wrong don't own any assets in Thailand, be interested to know , for when I got married , I had to sign a document , never to own real estate . House a different story .

Build a wooden house and you can own 100% of it and if you fall out with the land owner or the Thai partner you can just dismantle it and move it to another piece of land.
That's what i'm doing

It may be your home/house , but if you do fall out with the land owner, you may be refused permission to access the property to dismantle it!  nono

See no safety on windows and doors. Does it mean that the owner trust people in the area or not fittet yet?
Personally I dont like, make house look like "monkeyhouse" but my wife say Buriram "very dangerous", so guess have to find a design both can tolerate  love6
But how about your folks- safety or not ?

As I posted a few months ago, you can have a 50/50 say on the sale of the land.

I and my wife recently purchased a piece of land on which to build a new house. She went to register the land by herself. I was then asked to attend and sign some documents to, in the words of the lady at the land registry office, "protect both parties". Our land was purchased under the "Sin somrot" agreement. This means that the married couple that bought the land must also be in agreement when any subsequent sale takes place.
