Magic moments that make your day
« on: August 19, 2013, 10:11:33 AM »
Often it's the really little unexpected moments that are truly memorable.

Yesterday a couple of friends and I did the "Sunday drive in the country" thing. Was nice for the
girls to get out and see a bit more of their Province. Neither had been to NaPho before.

NaPho village, 80km NW of M.Buriram. I have been a few times before and I enjoy the drive.
It's a silk weaving village. I was wandering around a secluded compound watching 20 or so local ladies
weaving silk on looms.

Everybody was happy and relaxed. I stood near one middle age woman and just watched her
expertly going about her craft. The silk she was weaving was truly beautiful.

In my expert and flawless Thai (555) I said to her "Suai."

Quick as a flash, she grinned at me with beaming eyes and flawless porcelain teeth and said
"Me ... or the silk ? ..."

Then she broke into the most amazing happy giggle. Took about 0.5 sec for the "joke" to be
passed around the compound, and in a flash 20 women were all laughing and wanting to talk
with me.

Was such a simple innocent magic moment that brightened my whole day. Will never forget it.

And just maybe the ladies are still talking about the geeky farang that made them all laugh yesterday.

Had a really good laugh at something my lady said yesterday.

I was putting some freshly made jelly into the fridge to set. She had a quick taste.

With innocent seriousness and honesty she said  " it needs more sugar ..."

Was a magic moment, as once again I realised just how much fun she is to be with.

Have a look at the attached photo showing the ingredients.

Where did you buy that? Our little girl would love that with chemically whipped cream.
I always appreciate it when my cooking efforts are criticised, honestly, and that I can criticise back.

I once made some here, but put in half water and half Thai Whisky.  Jello shooters were a big hit around here with the Thais.

Two great stories Smooth. I'd love to go and have a look at the silk weaving as well, I'll definitely head that way with the family. I'm always looking for little places to explore. Nice to know that the province sells more than rice and sugar cane. Regards to you and your family mate

Hi, misery guts here, my wife refuses to go anywhere near silk weaving, she had to do this and all the other associated tasks for many hours a day from the age of 12. She found working in rice fields a relief.

I can say I am spoiled, I think I get magic moments every day.

About 20 minutes ago I got to see the first crawl.

Yes! indeed. Ours is seven years old and she has me wrapped around her little finger and she knows it. Works both ways though which is great with me.

Conversation with my girlfriend Jazz last night.

Jazz .... "babeee ... what you get me for Christmas present ...?"

Me ...... "nothing ... you good Buddha girl ..."

Jazz .... "I can change for one day ..."   :D     :D

Gotta love 'em eh    thumbup

I've had a steady stream of soi kids and their Mums visit my place for a photo with Santa.

None of them have a clue what Christmas is all about ... but they all know what Santa's gig is     presents3

Anyway ... Jazzs' offer to change religion for a day gave me a really beaut laugh.

Gotta start every day with a good laugh.

After telling my girlfriend at last Christmas "no present for you ... you good Buddha girl ..."

I told her then that "maybe big surprise on Chakri Day ..."

Shortly after sunrise today she said "babee ... Chakri Day ... start your mouth ..."     :D     :D

Phwrrrrrrr ... talk about elephants never forgetting !!

Also ... I've been banned from hanging out the washing. Apparently I don't do it right     thumbup

Gotta love it

Ahhh ... the wonderful constant amusement I get from translations.

Jazz and I were having a lighthearted conversation about life expectancy the other day.

Rather than tell me "babee .... I want you to live a long time ..."

She said "babee .... I want you to die slowly ...."

 :D   :D

Had a good laugh, as no woman has ever said THAT to me before !!

^555555 good one.

Saw this on another forum a couple of days ago, and after reading yours I thought I post it here.

Quote
Went to the movies last night and there was traffic like crazy and I got a little vocal with some other drivers.  After one outbursts, my GF, ever calm, turns and asks “What’s meaning Cries?”.

I answer “What’s the meaning of cries?  You know what cry and cries means.  What are you talking about?”

She says “Why then when you angry other people driving you yell “CHEESE CRIES!”

I said “OOOOOH now I understand…You know who Buddha is right?”  She says “Yes”.

I reply “Cheese Cries is the other guy”.  Knowingly she says “Oh HIM”.

News story on telly couple of days ago about a luxury hotel in BKK serving coffee for 1000 baht a cup.

Pretty special coffee apparently. Comes from NW of Thailand. Elephants eat the green Arabica beans, which can't be digested, so are crapped out. Some lucky bugger has the job of sifting through the shit to collect the coffee beans, which are then processed .... and then this u-beaut coffee is offered to hi flyers in BKK that are happy to cough up 1000 baht a cup.

Anyway ..... Enough background info. Onto the story.

I casually remarked to my wife "Wonder who was the first guy to trawl through a pile of elephant turds and decide that these beans look good. Let's crush 'em up and have some coffee."

Maybe my comment lost something in the translation .... as my missus completely missed the satirical humour of my rambling, as without even a hint of a giggle or smile, she gave me a serious short lecture on why Thai coffee is the best in the world.

Maybe it is my love.      love2

Anyway ..... my attempt at humour got shot down in flames real quick.

Check out Black Ivory Coffee. It's an interesting read.
