Coming Home
« on: August 09, 2013, 04:39:45 AM »
Hi Everyone.. My name is Ed (Call sign Voodoo) and around the 1st week of November I will be bringing my wife back to her home village where we will, permanently, retire.  We have already built a house in her home village of Krok Rak, which is about 7km north of Non Suwon on route 2016. It's small enough where it's no even listed on Google Earth. I guess I'm one of those lucky guys who found the right woman all those years ago. On June 25th of this year Pon and I celebrated our 40 wedding anniversary. She is my War Bride. We met in NKP on the Mekong River back in 1973 and have been together ever since. I feel very comfortable coming back to Thailand since her family has always treated me like family. But the biggest reason I'm bringing her back here is that we have seen, 1st hand, what happens to wives, back here, after they lose their husbands. If anything happens to me then she would be here all alone. Our kids are all in the service and I only have one brother left here. In Thailand she has a huge, supportive, family. We will have a good time and a good retirement in Thailand. Looking forward to meeting you guys once we get there.. Have a few pit stops to make along the way. We'll be leaving Tampa around the end of September and driving to Houston to spend a little time with my brother and his family. Then it will be off to Colorado Springs and Shriever AFB to visit our daughter and her family. The last stop will be Joint Base Hickam/Pearl in Hawaii to visit our son and his family. From there it'll be the final leg to Bangkok and then up country. Thanks for allowing us into your forum.

Welcome Ed,   welcome1

Not sure what you'll see a Shriever as it's built like a prison in the middle of nowhere, more likely it will be Peterson.

Glad to have another ex military here.  After you get he come see my Navy buddy Sparks and me.

Keith

Thanks Keith.. Don't know when you were last at Shriever but it appears that things have changed there.. According to my daughter most of it's new.. They were assigned a new 4 bedroom home in base housing and although it is a small place they really like it there. But they're used to small bases. They just spent the last 3 years at Hanscom Field in Bedford Mass, just outside of Boston.  They've already visited Peterson and the Air Force Academy. Both are too crowded for them. Looking forward to meeting you and Sparks once we get back to the LOS.

I'll just bet it will be something. Us old GIs are a bit of a different breed, especially those of us from the Vietnam era.  Looking forward to meeting you once we get back to the LOS. Take Care and Be Well.
