does anybody know if you still can get  a 1 entry tourist visa from the thai-consulate in Savannakhet.

Two month ago yes! 60 days tourist VISA (1000 Baht) can be extended in Thailand another 30 days.http://www.thaisavannakhet.com/savannakhet/th/consulate/contact/
