My 'garden' (three rais of cow/buffalo/chicken/duck/ whatever), pasture is not really sprayable, fences and walls are the last on my list of priorities at present and overhanging bamboo makes it a hopeless task anyway. I will follow the advice given (apart from the Nookie nonsense) and get back on that.

Believe it or not, I am really interested in the sucessful result of this thread as I picked off many Ticks from my dogs. 


So I hope any positive results of Tick control are provided. 


Until then, eradicating the Nookie Pest will be viewed.

I bought a product called Bayticol (couldn't find any of the other products) from the animal/garden shop between the market and the moat. I also got the poodle sheared this morning and am preparing to bathe both dogs and apply a solution of this stuff all over their bodies.
I will then use the same stuff to spray the attic space and rooms downstairs, repeating if necessary. A never ending story. Fortunately I have full body protection for this kind of stuff. I'll get back on that in two weeks.
By the way the expensive product 'Frontline', ฿690 for three doses, works very well on the cat.

Amazon.com, great place to get pet care items.  I can ship some if needed, just let me know what you want to order, you can deposit the money in TW account so that's not an issue.  It will come by shipper in Los Angeles, (don't know how he does it, but I don't ask)  so shipping will need to be paid upon arrival.  They call you when it gets there and you can have sent by post or pick up at their place in BKK.  Or I can try and just send via mail if you wish.

Thanks for the offer, I am still experimenting with stuff you can buy here. It was very hard work spraying the attic with protective clothing and mask, I won't be doing that myself again. The results are not impressive up to now.

Does home pro or other home center have any Diazanon spray in the big gallon containers?  Maybe that would work?

Slowly becoming an expert on the disgusting beasties. I may well have killed all the adults, larvae and nymphs but not the eggs. An female can lay 2 to 5000 eggs before dying! These are apparently still hatching somewhere in our house. What I see on the walls now are 'larvae' which have 6 legs. After gorging themselves and dropping off the dog these find another host and go through the cycle 'nymph', 8 legs and then adult, female adults are obviously the ones you need to get.
This started when I saw two horrible adults on the wall behind our bed. We may just have to live with it, bathing one dogs feet in a Bayticol solution didn't have any effect at all. Still looking.

I don't recall posting anything at all on this subject on this subject but now I will.............This year due to the very hot weather we have/still are endured the ticks abound in huge numbers I keep my 2 dogs free of them by shampooing them once a week using 'Bearing' Formula 1 tick & flee shampoo & then rubbing in 'Bearing' tick & flee powder.Not cheap but it works 100%.
With regard to having them reside in your home I seem to remember reading on another forum that Apple Cider Vinegar was used to get rid of them.

Some feedback... as far as I know, most treatments don't work on the eggs, which can remain dormant for years. We bathed the dogs with the above mentioned Baticol following the instructions. No ill effects as far as I can see. Then, inspection every day, one dog in addition to this got a collar against fleas, mites and ticks. She is still clean after nearly two weeks now.
We  have a very reduced number of tick nymphs going up the walls, we check every day. This however means that eggs are still hatching somewhere although we cleaned thoroughly.
The other dog, a wished upon us imbecile of a dog was the root of this infection we think. I can still see eggs in between the 'toes' of her feet, above and below. Can't get at these so I check every day as I said above. Nothing more delightful than playing 'snap, crackle and pop'  inside the ears and toes of a dog!I got them off my fingers by immersing them in a bowl of water which was then emptied into the neighbours' garden. The cat is tick free as is another dog that ours play with occasionally. That dog  has mange! So you can't win.
I think that apple cider or vinegar was used against bed bugs as I remember my grandmother wiping the beds with vinegar once a year.

Frontline ..... A product that you put a few drops on the back of the neck once a month will cure the dogs of the ticks, but not sure what else you can do for the house.

Go to any vet and explain your dog has ticks.He'll ask the size of the beast and then provide you with a hypodermic needle which you can inject yourself.( into the dog that is) It's cheep and easy and lasts for three months or more depending on the season.

Yes Frontline is good also, but I get blank stares when I ask for this in Buriram, costs ฿690.- for three doses, expensive when you have three animals to look after.

Same as i do with my dog,100 Baht and it's affective for six months.
I have an American pitbull so for smaller dogs it maybe cheaper.
