Thanks for all the positive comments. And a BIG thanks to Antonio for the good wishes, I just knew you'd come around. 

I'm not coming with rose colored glasses. I'm somewhat apprehensive about it all. Leaving a very orderly & conservative lifestyle & resettling in LOS isn't going to be a walk in the park. I have no doubt I'll question both my motives & the decision to relocate long after I arrive, but hey, nothing ventured nothing gained.

If anyone is interested enough to email me I'm more than happy to expand on the reasons for the move. I don't consider the forum is the appropriate place to go into intimate detail.

Unfortunately I don't speak Thai, I accept this will be a handicap. I'm an avid reader, a keen gardener, get on very well with kids & more than happy to roll up my sleeves & get involved if & when needed & appropriate. I love to travel & have driven extensively in LOS. 

Considering this thread started as an initial intro, I think it's gone a bit beyond that. Again, thanks for all the comments, both positive & negative. I'm looking forward to receiving an email or 2 & hope they might lead to a long friendship. I've already received one email offering assistance & advice.
