Meeting farangs in Prakhonchai
« on: May 07, 2009, 10:11:26 AM »
Somewhere here I saw something about meeting farangs in Prakhonchai but I can't find it right now. I think it was at least a year old so I am asking now:

         Is there some such place?

I mentioned a few days ago that I took the family to Time Out Fishing Park not far from Prakhonchai and had a wonderful time. And there were a lot of other farangs later in the day (Friday). It's not only for fishing. I also understand that there are regular meetings on the weekends. Search for Time Out Fishing Park in Google for their website. Good luck.

Hi pbarnfeather/Admin,

With reference to bars etc in Prakhon Chai I will try and bring you up to date.

Already mentioned by Lourens is Time Out, which is a little out of Prakhon Chai itself by about 15kms and is in the direction of Prasat. Best watering hole around for me and especially at weekends. Ludo off to Norway soon on business, but his wife Yai is exceptional and will keep things running smoothly. Very popular at weekends and if you like fishing, good place to relax and enjoy good food.

The Shamrock is still operating I believe, but Alfred the German owner has gone back to Germany indefinitely so we are led to believe and therefore the place is not doing too well in regards to a Farang attraction.

The new Paradise Lake is one of the popular watering holes now and is at the far side of the Prakhon Chai lake. There is a road that runs right around the lake, just follow it around until you spot it. If you come across the TOT offices or Post office, you are on the wrong side of the lake and need to go directly opposite these offices.

Paradise Lake is run by Lars, a Danish guy who is an excellent host. He has currently just returned to Denmark for a month, but his wife is keeping the place running. Excellent Thai food and Friday afternoon's/ evenings the most popular time to meet the local farang guys (Prakhon Chai market day). It is a family type atmosphere and most Thai wives also enjoy to meet and eat there too. Try the draft Leo, excellent.

Just on the outer edge of Prakhon Chai road, first taking the road to Ban Kruat, then a right turn to PanhomRung. Immediately on turning right at this junction, look along the left side and you will see a German restaurant. Dieter was a master butcher back in Germany and this is a very popular place for Germanic people. Dieter only really specialises in this type of food, but his home-made sausages and schnitzel's are the best in Buriram province so I am told.

There is a pizza restaurant that was opened by a Turk, Typhoon. He I believe is currently back home, but his "pizza hut" remains open and can be found on the main Prakhon Chai - Buriram town road near the Prakhon Chai bus station turn-off.

Hope this helps...................RayBan  cool1

Hi again,

Although I am still in my Dubai office, I am reliably informed that Alfred is now back in Prakhon Chai and at the Shamrock.

I will be travelling home next week and will bring this post up to date in regards to Prakhon Chai bar news if needed............RayBan
