converting tourist triple entry visa to type o visa

Ok after a short chat with Croc i am considering the option of hopping over to laos and applying for my visa based on marriage there as it seems to be quicker and easier than the trip to bkk followed by another trip to bkk a month later ,any thoughts on this by you seasoned expats ?

If your going for an extention to stay based n retirement OR marriage Kap Choeng Immigration will convert a 30 day visa exempt stamp or a Tourist Visa 60+30 over. No need to go to Bangkok.

Really i was under the impression that kap choeng wouldnt do this and i was required to go to bkk oh i do wish everything was a little clearer lol any more input on this i am currently on a triple entry tourist visa and will change it for the first time for type o non immigrant based on marriage

I will personalty go to KCI tomorrow morning and confirm this one way or another as i live in Kap Choeng and will gt back to you asap..

I also believed that you had to go Chaeng Wattana (Bangkok) for this so I shall be interested to hear what GL has to report tomorrow.

Just got back from KCI as I said they will convert on a 30 day exempt or a tourist visa over to retirement OR marriage. No need to go to Bangkok .AND YES M&D Coffee is back up and is in operation.

Quick update after my visit to KCI ,
On this occasion they would not ,or could not convert my tourist triple entry visa to a non immigrant O visa i was informed i would have to go to bkk and change it over there which is a complete pain in the ass as i will need to go and come back twice ffs oh well the joys of thailand

Yes single no problem but trip off to BK. Why don't you use the trip then go over to an extention on the last thirty days. You have all ready paid for it.

Honestly i just want the visa sorted so i can relax a little but i do get your meaning just use my last entry and get another 2 months to change over to a non 0 unfortunately nothing is that simple as my belongings are arriving in bkk on the 5th of june and i have been asked to show the officials my non o visa before i can collect /have them delivered to me here at lahan sai

Ok update on visa situation after visiting cheang wattana (and what a building that government complex is i was very impressed)
I am reliably informed that for all first time changes of visa type they must be done from the central immigration department at CW ,
So after the 5 hour drive to bkk we slept at a friends room and took a taxi in the morning to the local ampher where we got married to obtain a copy of my affirmation to marry first in the queue and away in less than 10 minutes copies in hand  then the next taxi was to CW after being dropped in the wrong bloody place and dodging all the men who wanted to do our visa for anywhere between 40000 and 20000 baht we finally found the main building and entered where we had to check our forms again to make sure they were all in order and they were then we waited in line to be given a ticket for our place at the next desk quite quick and painless so far then first desk i extended my existing visa for 30 days cost 1900 baht and change was returned to me 
  Next back to the queue to get a ticket for the other side of the office to change to non o visa ticket was issued and we had 23 people in front of us  so we patiently waited counting down until 12 pm when we all got thrown out due to lunchtime  so after a dubious meal we returned to patiently wait and eventually got called up and our application was checked and scrutinised and then we were asked to see the required documents (all ok so far) all copies in order ,ok can i see the original wedding certificate please ,no problem feeling quite pleased with my self  ok and your wifes blue book original as well ,Yes no problem Nok can i have the blue book please ?? What do you mean you gave it back to your mum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so off she goes to the local office by taxi bike to acquire an authenticated copy from them and that was that ,oh yes except we have to go back in 2 weeks for the verdict

ok cheang wattana have given me a non immigrant o visa now valid for 90 days  so the next stage is getting the 12 month extension 30 days before the visa expires so a trip over to kap choeng again in a few months then hopefully can do all by registered post and life will be simpler (touch wood)
