It's all very disappointing for Thai football in general, but i do believe Buriram United have avoided any possibility of elimination from the A.C.L.so that's our main concern.

The wave of protests against what the UK’s Daily Mail referred to as the “outgoing Thai FA President” is widening, despite threats against those trying to express their heartfelt feelings about the damage done to the game they love. Last week Bangkok United were fined for allowing their fans to protest against the FAT head, further fuelling their feeling of resentment and broiling anger. The problem is that, for the vast majority of people (a recent Channel 3 poll answering the question “who do you want to be the next FAT President?” had hot favourite Virach Charnpanich on 37.96% and Worawi Makudi an electron microscopic 0.15% ) targeting only the ousting of Mister Teflon is limiting. Like the fall of Sadam, so much energy was expended simply getting rid of him, there was no post victory plan.image

Whoever puts his feet under the FAT Head’s office desk will have a groundswell of support based on him being ABW: Anyone But Worawi. But the highly fractured and personal interest driven landscape needs more than just not what came before. There will be plenty of political landmines carefully planted in these last few days before regime change: the only way to avoid them creating foot pizza is to be open, collegial and honest. The good news is that, although competing for the top Thai football job, both Pinit Ngarmpring (representing the highly popular fan group Cheer Thai Power) and former national team manager Virach Charnpanich have already committed to work with whichever one of them is victorious, but not Worawi.

To the winner, I would suggest that their first task is to energise and enfranchise the mass of football crazy, patriotic fans that have been disenfranchised and ignored since the heady days of Peter Withe’s reign. Not only Thai, but also foreign fans have been forced underground as the only place to share common sense and good practice. They need to know that their voice has a listener, even if heartfelt feelings do not sit snugly inside the party line. To start with, listening is enough. There will be a huge cathartic outpouring of regret at how their game has been systematically brutalised and left to flounder hiding in plain sight as the previous leagues of parity in Japan and Korea prosper.

One of the problems about being so much better than your beaten opponent is that it can make you lazy. By putting one foot in front of the other without falling over you are already adding value, when your real challenge should be how to haul the whole system out of its torpor, cut the vast expanses of F.A.T and compete against svelte and fit for purpose associations like those in Korea and Japan. To do that, the incoming Head will need to spend some of his freshly minted popularity to force decisions through that involve discomfort. Provincial clubs need much more say in the Football Association meaning Bangkok based clubs, used to their own way, will need to reduce their power. Clubs will need players subpoenaed to the national team, not just asked nicely and corporations underwriting jollies for FIFA ranking free kick arounds will need to learn that those that pay the piper cannot always play the tune.image

Let’s not kid ourselves: Worawi is the poster boy for fan anger, but there are plenty of people inside the war cabinet who have used him as a public punchbag whilst privately cosying up to him to receive his largess trickling down from his friends at FIFA. They will be much more difficult to dislodge as they are the Dukes of Dark Corners who deny any connection to Worawi in public, but walk hand in hand with him when the cameras are packed away. Like Sadam Hussein’s “Information Minister” Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf, affectionately known as “Baghdad Bob,” Worawi will echo “Bob’s” most famous quote from April 8, 2003, when he said that the Americans “are going to surrender or be burned in their tanks. They will surrender, it is they who will surrender”. Strangely, the words so widely ridiculed about American occupation and Weapons of Mass Destruction have shown that he was ultimately right. So at least there’s one important difference between him and Worawi, our very own Bangkok Bob.

Wolfman. When your not too busy and have some spare time could you do something about up-dating the Thai League web site? They're so slow it's embarrassing.

I bet your copying and pasting from here aren't you?  buriram_united

Getting rid of the American (Anthony Ampaipitakwong) can only be good for Buriram United,he was excess baggage from the moment he arrived, don't think his played a good game since he arrived.

I would like to welcome (Jesús Berrocal Campos) to the Buriram,i hope you enjoy playing for the most successful football club in Thailand, and i hope you score lot's of goals.

May Jesus be with you Jesus.

Thai Premier League Wrap: Buriram advantage slashed

Buriram United saw their lead at the top of the Thai Premier League cut to just two points after a disappointing 0-0 draw with TOT.
Scott Cooper's side remain unbeaten after 16 outings in the 2013 edition of the competition, but allowed Muang Thong United to gain ground as they failed to beat 10th-placed TOT away from home on Saturday.

And Muang Thong made the most of that result 24 hours later as they cruised to a 2-1 victory against Chainat at the Khao Plong Stadium

Piyaphon Buntao and Mario Gjurovski grabbed United's first-half goals, with Michael Byrne netting a late consolation for the eighth-placed hosts.
There was also movement just below the league's top two teams as Suphanburi leapt into fourth place courtesy of a 2-1 win over Songkhla United in which Pairote Sokam and Bireme Diouf grabbed the crucial goals.
Chonburi then failed to spark against mid-table Osotspa, being held to a disappointing goalless draw at home and relinquishing fourth spot in the process.
There were also several interesting developments at the bottom of the Thai Premier League, with the battle against relegation heating up significantly.

Fresh off the back of a surprise win over Chonburi, Samut Songkhram earned just their third away point of the season by holding Ratchaburi to a 0-0 draw on Sunday.

The two teams are now separated by only a point in 15th and 14th respectively

That result meant that Chiangrai United, who occupy the final relegation spot, slipped two points short of safety after suffering a 2-1 away loss to Bangkok United on Saturday.
Heiko Scholz's men looked on track to earn a crucial draw after Leo Da Silva cancelled out Chatchai Kumpraya's opener, but were left sorely disappointed when Romain Gasmi struck in the 80th minute to hand the hosts the points.

Also on Sunday, 17thh-placed Pattaya United also saw their hopes of escaping the bottom three shrink as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Police United at home.

Elsewhere, sixth-placed Army United moved just three points short of BEC Tero Sasana in fifth by beating Rene Desaeyere's side 2-1 thanks to Mongkol Tossagri's 92nd-minute winner.
