Cambodia Visa on Arrival
« on: December 18, 2012, 03:51:10 PM »
Apologies for asking what must seem a silly question for you guys that have been here in Buriram since before electricity was invented.

I have Aussie passport. My TGF's brother has some business in Phnom Penh next week, and has suggested I might like to come for a drive with him.    Is the Pope a Catholic !!   Hell yeah !!!

I still get excited about travelling around ... especially to knew places ... and as nobody has offered me their golf sticks yet (clubs ?? ... we talked about this in a previous post) ... then this will be a beaut way to spend couple of days.

I have never been into Cambodia.

1 - At Chong Chom crossing, can I get Cambodia Visa on Arrival ?  30 days ?

2 - How much ?  I assume I can change Thai baht for Cambodian thingy bobs before Immigration ?

Any useful info about the entry into Cambodia will be appreciated. Don't want to get there and have some silly hiccup because I'm not prepared.

Getting back into LOS is no problem. It's getting out that interests me.

Getting into Cambodia is no issue if you have 6 months on your passport. The visa will cost US$20 (if you hand over the right money and stand your ground - also take a passport size photo). Be prepared to pay circa 1,100 Baht otherwise.

Getting back into Thailand IS the issue.

What visa do you have. If Visa Not Required you will get a 15 day stamp at the border (30 for arrivals by air).

If you have a non-immigrant 'O' visa you will get a 90 day stamp. If you have a visa extension then you will need a re-entry permit. Have any of these and you are home and dry.

Two hours to Siem Reap (worth a look) but 5 - 6 hours to PP.

Best way in is to fly if you can a sensible BKK/PP flight. That way you can also get an e-visa for $25 online.

Smoothy - there is no currency exchange at the border, and the Cambodian"thingy bobs" that you require are in fact US$. Forget the small local money -the riel -that's only used to give change for US$1

These you are unlikely to get in Buriram, so be prepared to pay an inflated rate in Thai baht for your visa and change cash into dollars either when you reach Phnom Penh, or perhaps en-route in Siem Reap. Avoid changing in small towns along the way!

If you like travelling around please consider one of the Prakhonchai Expat Tours to Siem reap -next one 28th January............http://www.buriramexpats.com/forum/index.php/topic,6893.msg37120/boardseen.html#new

I still think Stevie Wonder would struggle with them - and I doubt they have reached the ATMs of Siem Reap yet....

My information is that new $100 bills have not yet been introduced, and will not look like those reproduced above. Here is the l;atest design.
