A few people have asked about going to Siem Reap over Christmas.

I imagine that the influx of Westerners may result in a more "Christmassy" feel to the place, compared to most parts of Thailand.

If enough people are interested we shall be pleased to put a trip together - perhaps 3 nights - 24th/25th/26th December.

Cost is likely to be circa 4,250 per person (based on 2 sharing a double room at the City River hotel

The price of 4,250 Baht per person is based on 2 people sharing a Superior room at the City River Hotel and includes return minibus/coach travel from Prakhonchai to Siem Reap, plus 3 nights’ accommodation with breakfast.

Alternative accommodation for single travelers is provided at the Wooden Angkor hotel, the cost is 5,200 Baht for a Superior room and 5,800 Baht for a Deluxe room.

24 Dec - 08.30 Leave Prakhonchai - arrive hotel by 13.00
25 Dec - Free Day. Christmas lunch can be arranged individually, or as a group.
26 Dec - 09.00 Visit to Angkor Wat (optional)
27 Dec - 11.30 Depart hotel - arrive Prakhonchai approx 15.00

The itinerary allows time on the day of arrival to discover Siem Reap and perhaps visit the National Museum that has a whole floor dedicated to Buddha. A useful source of information prior to visiting Angkor Wat. Alternatively, you may wish to relax with a glass of Angkor draft beer for 50 Cents (16 Baht) in Pub Street and, literally, get into the Christmas spirit !
