Looking for Mason Jars for Pickling, where to find?
« on: October 15, 2012, 08:21:06 PM »
I really like dill pickles, but it is not a Thai staple.  So I would like to start experimenting with pickling.  However, I need Mason Jars with lids.  I have checked Big C, Makro, etc., they have the old style at 1 jar at a time, but I would like to get 12 quart sized jars.

Anyone know where to get around here?

I have considered that, but since most Thai "Jars" are plastic they would not survive the sterilization process.

There are many jars of Thai products, the more simple ones, not the ones you show in the photos.
Just use an old glass jar from a product you bought before. wash it and use it as is.
I did pickles from time to time with just salt, chili, very easy to make.

Bangkok Glass would be the only people that would possibly have them.......but they are in BKK & the transportation costs would be higher than the cost of the jars.

I have seen glass jars for sale in Makro (not Buriram) but they might not be the right size for you. Worth checking out IMO!
