I can't speak for the Americans on this forum, but I do not believe there is any candidate worth voting for.   

I did not vote for anyone, I voted against the candidate.

Neither candidate is really to my liking.  But, it was a "lesser of two evil's" kinda' thing with me.

I decided to give my vote to Romney, only because I cringe at the thought of another term under O'bummy!   Didn't want to wast a vote for another, and have it wind up a spoiler and thus helping B.O.  So in that sense, I was really voting AGAINST B.O.

(May be a moot issue though.  Living in Nevada, it's a real "wet dream" to imagine the state going "red"!  At least I voted my conscience though, right?  555))

I disagree. From what you write, you did not vote your conscience. You voted for somebody you did not want elected. Is that what your conscience tells you to do? The "lesser of two evils" is still evil. I have been a Republican since I was 11 years old and ran around town hanging up "I Like Ike" posters. The only person whom I ever voted for who actually became president was Bill Clinton in his second term. Among my write-in votes have been George Romney (1968), Elliot Richardson (1972), Colin Powell (2004), Hilary Clinton (2008), John McCain (2000). If enough people actually voted their consciences, then elected officials would actually have to be accountable for what they say and what they do after they are elected. What would happen to the electoral process if the winning candidate received <35% of the vote.
Campaign directors, the people who actually manage presidential campaigns, are usually non-partisan. They could work for one party this year and another in the next election. When I worked the Ford campaign in my home state I had to attend a seminar where it was explained to me that they focus their primary resources in a campaign in the following way:
they consider that there are three voters. Pro-candidate, Con-candidate, and Independents.  The Pros are a lock. Very little likelihood they will change once they have made up their minds. The Cons are about the same, although some may be changed through the Indies strategy. Generally, they are a write off. The Indie strategy is not to try to win the independents  over (hardly ever happens) but to scare them away from the other candidate. Some exciting examples of that were the Daisy Girl commercial used against Goldwater, the Willie Horton ad against Dukakis, Bush’s panic about terrorism, Romney about exporting jobs to China, and all campaigns up to 1992, especially Republican and Dixiecrat, propagating the fear of spreading world communism. After that, liberalism and sensitivity became America's chief enemies with occasional threats of international terrorism thrown in to fatten the kitty.  That’s why the U.S. government, in fact all the federal governments of the Anglo-American Empire, are all screwed up. Because the people elect the candidates they fear the least rather than the ones they need the most.
Next time, really vote your conscience. If you think you should be President, then write in your own name. And don't let anybody tell you that you are wasting your vote. The only wasted votes are those cast for someone you don't want to hold office.
