Hi Ian and welcome

I think your best bet might be in Nang Rong. Many hotels there of differing qualities. . Nookie's the man to speak to.

Quite a good listing on Agoda.com

Welcome to the forum.
If you don't mind to stay in Nangrong, maybe this one is good for you.

Spent one rainy and very enjoyable night there. Not many people, especially on a rainy night. But it was quite comfortable and the ambiance was nice enough.

Thanks for all your replies but I have been trying to avoid Nang Rong as I am going to have to drive back and forwards about 4/5 times a day.  I think we are going try the new one by the petrol station in Non Din Daeng, we are probably going to be there from 30/11 until 6/12.  If there are any members local I would like to meet for a drink as I am sure I will need to talk farang!

Not too many permanent residents in Ban Kruat that socialise on a regular basis. Also, s far as I know a few of are not around at the moment.
I believe that a couple of days a week, I think Monday and Tuesday evenings, are the best times to meet up in the small bar in the market.

I can thoroughly reccommend http://www.muangsudbungalow.com which seems the right direction for you. Good pool, food and room - and cheap.

On my next visit Im staying at a motel in Lahan Sai but this is more to do with Logistics than what i think is best
