Exactly Alan, I've been here for about 9 years full time and 99 % of the foreigners I meet are so cheap charlies that I now try to avoid them as much as possible. They are all over my place for free advice, free phonecalls, free faxes and if possible free transportation to
Buriram/Surin/Korat-immigration and city/Pattaya/Airport but if you just ask them a 'fair' participation in fuel costs they stand on their hind legs as if I'm trying to steal from them.
So as from now on : no free advice anymore, 500 baht for an advice and for transportation 10 baht a click plus a minimum of 3.000 baht for the day.

There are always those that are there to take advantage of a "free lunch". May I suggest you have been attracting the wrong type. Can't be friends with everyone. Take care of yourself and yours.

Buy the house and car with cash, 30,000 baht per month for everything else. It can be done, on a lot less.
