On a serious note Jim, the build is coming on very nicely.

If you manage to complete it within your budget that will be a bonus as well.

Unlike some, I like the Thai way of building. As long as there is a lot of consultation (helps to speak Thai or have a good translator) you can end up with a solid product.

Wife's brother paid to have the parents wooden house re-built in Buriram for an amazing 320K bht !!!! a couple of years ago.

But that's another story and I wont hijack this great thread with the details.

Thanks guys. I stay out of all the shopping for building materials. Either my wife or her brother do that and get the propper prices. My wife also looks after most of the building. And I would'nt want to work for HER! I only go check in from time to time but plan to be there most of the time when they start with the finishing. That should start real soon.

I will tell you the budget when all the work is done. I know that it always goes over budget but it shouldn't be too bad. Anyway, I'm prepared to go over budget with as much as it takes to complete the job.

Which way is the building orientated Jim ?

Would be very nice sitting on the top floor balcony early morning with a cuppa.

Or late afternoon with a  tonguebar2

The front of the building is facing SSE. Large windows on all sides of the "Penthouse" suite makes it light and airy hopefully eliminating the need for an AC unit up there.

I hope your right but somewhat doubt it. Greenhouses tend to get a bit hot too but if you get a  good breeze, you may be right.

The last month or so was a frustrating time for me. I wanted to spend time to oversee finishing but with Christmas, New Year and two funerals in the villages, the builders had an easy month and spent only about 2 weeks doing any work. At least the electricity was installed. I insisted on three point, earthed wiring. Now that I’m back at work, the building is progressing again with speed. Current projection is completion by mid-February. We shall see...
