Likewise. I have been giving blood since I was 19 years old.The fact that people, and I do mean everyone, need blood at times is motivation enough for me.

Very commendable Steve. I as most people cannot say they have given so readily. What prompted you to start so young?

I had already made the decission to give blood once I return to Thailand fit and well. Having personally recieved 2 bags of blood after my accident was more than enough motivation and I am very grateful for the people who donate unselfishly in order to help complete strangers.
It occurred that maybe most doners start giving after a situation where they or a loved one requires blood. It truely is a priceless gift that costs nothing!

Admin, it could be very useful to have hospital blood donation dates and locations posted on this site with regular updates for members whom wish to partake.

OK., I'll admit I went off the rails a bit with my ' farang blood for BE donors only, however, I still think there is a need for willing donors to list their blood group and contact details should an emergency arise. Is that better ?

First time I went was with my Mum. She had been donating for years and I decided to go with her.

The problem with waiting for emergencies is the fact that blood donors may be unable to donate. You may be sick, on medication, just back from a holiday in a country that bans you from donating. There is also a time limit on when you can donate after having received vaccinations.

Not forgetting that one is only allowed to donated every 24 weeks or so.

Don't beat yourself up Mick - you have been closer than most to this tragic accident. It is understandable that emotions will run high and I can see that your intentions are well-meant.

I have been donating blood for over 30 years in the USA.  Normally the Red Cross Bus come by where I worked and I would donate, but several times the Red Cross called and asked me to go to their building, which I did.

What are the specific procedures for donating blood?  Is there a Red Cross equivilant in Buriram?

The school where my wife works have a blood donor day about 3 times a term. I will let every one know the dates when I know them.

The school is a large secondary school just outside of Buriram on the Nang Rong road. A big bus comes from Buriram Hospital with all of the nurses, doctors and equipment.

Surely they must go to other schools. Maybe worth a word with large schools near you. Maybe the largest school in each district.
