For those that are interested in the 250cc bracket and want a proper sports bike with a pedigree chassis coupled with a two cylinder engine, take a look at the Kawasaki 250 Ninja. A little bit more expensive than the Honda at 147,000 baht but alot more bike for your baht. Only downside is that the closest dealer is Korat but as with all these bikes they never go wrong.
Honda are have announced plans for production of big bikes to be built in Thailand which could open up a whole new range of bikes at sensible money. Honda have yet to announce which models are to produced and when production will start but this has to be good news for the consumer. bike038

Not 100% sure on that Alan. If they are then I would think it must be easy to unrestrict. I looked into these briefly when the misses took a shine to the er6n. If you look on the net there is alot of info and regular posts of 190kph + on you tube top speed. As I said before these things are a dedicated build from the ground up unlike the Honda which is a sporty looking package built around a single cylinder commuter bike. I am also to understand that they are imported where as the Honda is made in Thailand so considering the import duty and the huge difference in spec Kawasaki are discounting these hugely to be competative. The 250 ninja is the highest selling 250 in this class throughout the USA so they are very well regarded.
The only problem as with all these 250cc bikes is they are physically small and if you intend doing some distance can become a bit cramped. If you want something to buzz around on the 250 is fine but for the more involved and longer trips then the Kawasaki 650cc er6n/f or Versys is hard to beat and these are built in Thailand so avoid that  huge import duty. Khun Dom at Korat Kawasaki is very helpful with perfect English should you be interested.

At the dealer in Surin and it is a joke....He has check at three more brokers and the same thing. Only to 50K. He is off for a couple weeks and is in Pattaya and will check there.
