Tourism Minister Eyeing To Turn Chiang Mai Into A New Ground For Formula 1 Race

BANGKOK, 29 June 2012 (NNT) – The Tourism Ministry is eyeing to make one of the country’s popular touristic towns a new ground for Formula-1 race.

Tourism Minister Chumpol Silapa-archa said on Thursday that the ministry is conducting a feasibility study on Chiang Mai Province as a new host city for Formula 1 race.

Mr. Chumpol stated that Chiang Mai is a preferred choice due to its well-managed land used in organizing the Royal Flora Ratchapruek, which can be allocated for other uses.

He added that the northern city’s vast, natural space will pose minimal noise pollution while allowing for the construction of stands to accommodate viewers.

If this plan is approved, the Highland Research and Development Institute (Public Organization) will be in charge of landscape adjustment.

The Tourism Minister believes that the Formula-1 face project will add more value to Chiang Mai’s tourism industry and attract more visitors to the annual Royal Flora Ratchapruek fair in the future.

I think your right Nookie. Bernie Ecclestone charges far too much for Chiang Mai to grab the lime light. If it happens it will be in Bangkok. I understand that the majority owners in Red Bull are pushing for a race there. Time will tell.
Cheers,

"Another Dreamer" Nookie?, sorry you've lost me there,Hmm let me think, Ahh yes the muddy waters have now cleared , obviously you are referring to the remark made about "noise pollution" which every one with half a brain cell knows that Noise pollution is compulsory here in Thailand ,just the same as overtaking on the wrong side of the road on the brow of a hill or a blind left hand curve, just to test out your new 300 baht Buddha Amulet which makes the purchaser some how Immortal, silly old me , could you please be more explicit in your future posts ,as I'm very slow on the uptake and often get confused

Another Dreamer!!

I think you are right. Can you ever imagine Thailand ever being able to comply with the safety standards for drivers and more importantly, spectators!

Sadly, I also think this would never happen but good luck to all the people who can get a job on the back of this idea!  bravo1
